I truly enjoyed this story as I could not understand WHY "Friends" was so popular back in the 90s.
You characterize the narrator so well, allowing us to get into his thoughts as he listens to Jen prattle on and on. And she--like the characters she loves--is so shallow.
Great ending 28 years later with his daughter.
You brightened my (foggy) morning with this story. Thanks!

Your story hilariously captures the cultural phenomenon of Friends and how it dominated social interactions during the 1990s. The frustration and humor of navigating dates where the show was a constant topic are relatable and vividly portrayed. The unexpected twist at the end, with your daughter watching Friends, brings the narrative full circle with a touch of irony.
It's funny how certain shows or trends can become such a significant part of our lives, even decades later. Your writing style is engaging, witty, and captures the essence of those experiences brilliantly.
