This is a good entry for the Share a Story in a Poem competition. What a very sad story it tells. People will do some strange things in the heat of the moment, especially if they have been drinking and are not thinking straight. Sadly, it's the innocent who often suffer the worst of the situation while those who are responsible live to face another day. Nicely done!

This is a good entry for the Share a Story in a Poem competition. What a very sad story it tells. People will do some strange things in the heat of the moment, especially if they have been drinking and are not thinking straight. Sadly, it's the innocent who often suffer the worst of the situation while those who are responsible live to face another day. Nicely done!

This is heartbreaking. I can't believe that this heartless father and his friend would take the time to lie, instead of grieving. A beautiful life ended too soon. I hope they went to prison for a long time.

Unfortunately, they did not. They got away with it, and it was over a technicality of the they couldn't prove the consumption of alcohol against the time was that they rolled down the ravine. So it's that question that got them off. They still got a should've got something even if we couldn't prove the alcoholic consumption they were drunk.I knew it as soon as I saw them. Thank you Roy! I so appreciate your kind words and your amazing insight! Yes, although she was not my daughter, it still impacted me very much. And today's two get beyond the unbelievable distinct, and overpowering smell of someone dying. I felt it was time to give her some space in the literary world. This is very sad story told in the creative rhymed poem. Good old boys playing around not careful of the lives of other and then to lie about what really happened in order to shift the blame. It is sad an innocent child had to die while their life goes on.

Such strong impactful lines of six syllables each in a foot-pounding meter and in AABB rhyme! Each stanza made me more tense, hoping -- hoping for an ending anything but this.
VERY strong contender, in my opinion...
Cara will haunt my dreams tonight. As will all the times "justice" has been turned on upside down to protect the guilty at the expense of the innocent!

This is such a sad story. So they lied about what happened to her? So she fell off the four wheeler, but they said she fell off the back of truck. This is my understanding of the story.

Hi, Brenda. Yes, after my father pulled him and her out of the ravine, she was already dying at that point, they jumped in the pickup truck and went flying up the freeway. They passed me on the freeway. I thought they were summer partiers, being idiots actually taught me at the top of the hill.
