There are times in life we are called upon to take the path of greatest resistance. I didn't read to see how much negativity you got and you might not have gotten much. I did notice however the number of reviews was lower than normal for this poem. I know sometimes people just avoid poems of faith. But, I would like to thank you for having the courage and the intestinal fortitude to march forward and give us this wonderful poem. Thanks sis.

It's 11:22 PM and Georgia and we know each other well enough that I'm not gonna spend much time on responding to these lovely replies but I have read every one and this is one more of my cut and paste jobs! L O L
    You are most welcome.

Hello Debi,
I'm really behind on my reviewing, but I'm so glad I didn't skip over this. What a tremendous message. Honestly, there are times when I wonder myself if I'm on the straight and narrow path. Sometimes it seems like following God is relatively easy, and at other times, it's like the last thing I want to do. At times I'm reminded of Jesus speaking of the lukewarm person who gets spat out of his mouth. I appreciated your view on the subject of abortion. I don't understand why any woman would choose this path. They do indeed have a choice, prior to having sex. Lord knows there is all kinds of free contraception available. I hate to think of all the unborn babes who were robbed of the chance to have life here on earth. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Talk about being behind, Tom. This was not in my regular bunch. This was in the bottom of the poem where you can also do thank you's. Wow, I am going to ask Tom about that. I am really sorry about the lateness. I did see it though when you left it.

So thank you for your very kind and warm review and words for my path to heaven poem. I appreciate it so very much, my dear friend. Love, Debi

No worries gal. I go through and review a whole bunch of articles and the next night, there are that many again or more. I can't get caught up. Right now I'm going through a really busy time, which I enjoy, but there are only so many hours in the day.

Nice decision to go with couplets here. Your rhyme and meter are excellent. We all need a "faith booster" regardless how hard we try to avoid sin.

We are imperfect and God's love is unconditional.

Did your girlfriend die from complications of an abortion?

I was unclear on that as you said "the guilt would then take her" --

Did she harm herself?

Even in the most extreme circumstances I believe God loves us and forgives us...

I wish it had been that way for her.

You write from a place of grace, Debi.

Good morning, my special K. Thanks for your lovely review and kind words. I could tell that you were concerned for Paula, so I will tell you that her husband made her have an abortion. And she was in no position to fight him at the time, so she did it. He was a big business owner and would have taken her other children away from her. I don't think she had any idea at the time that she did how it would impact her.

If you only knew all the times she confided in me, cried to me, downright lost it with me about her guilt. She knew God forgave her but she couldn't forgive herself. She was such a healthy woman before she did that and went downhill right from the start. I tried to talk her out of it but she was scared of her husband and wasn't about to risk losing her kids. I know she died of a broken heart. I wrote about it a couple times in different ways. It was hard to watch. Harder to not be able to help. And hardest to watch her die.

I started this to be a poem to have more about abortion and then thought it wasn't on the topic and changed it to just get only a little about it by using Paula's circumstance. She got cancer soon after and instead of fighting she gave up.

In fact when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was hospitalized twice bleeding and they talked that it may be harmful to me to carry her and I said I didn't care yet Glen begged me to let her go.

I doubt I would still be alive if I had an abortion.

Thanks again, dear K. Love ya, Debi

Thanks, Debi, for explaining. It is tragic no matter what the circumstances! Although it is rare, I had several patients have complications right after their abortions and "bleed out" and I wondered. How horrible that her husband was such an ogre! I do worry about these things, ya know!

This poem mostly made of rhyming couplets addresses very important issues without falling prey to the trap of making the couplets trite. I hope your poem influences those who need it most.

good summary of your Christian faith. I saw a bumper sticker which turned into a published found poem which perhaps is relevant to this poem. the bumper stick read

The fact that there is a stairway to Heaven
and a highway to hell
says a lot about
the expected traffic.

Happy thanksgiving from Oregon. Off to Korea next week, back in the States next summer perhaps for a longer stay then.

Well said and beautifully penned, dear Debi.
I love the rhyming couplets. They flow well and deliver a powerful message of love and redemption, reminding folks what happens when things head the other way.

Well written,
Much love,

What a delightfully expressed message, from one of Faith to all of those struggling to accept the Word of God. You phrase you message so delightfully. But I fear it reads so much easier than it is actually practice.

The most dangerous thing about the Devil is that he has had time to study us since the day and time that Adam and Eve came to life as humans. He knows exactly how and when to attack us. He knows just what lies will be easiest for us to swallow. Therefore we must rely completely upon God's word the Holy Bible. It is understood that we cannot understand all that is in the Bible so we must place trust the ministers who are in place to instruct us.

A wonderful poetic journey through the path to forgiveness and washing in his blood so we can stand in the light.
This is truth, beautifully and simply written.
Thank you for sharing this Debi
