This will draw the reader in: "Your appetite seems to be back. I'll have to make you something more substantial for dinner." She sat down in the rocker and moved it closer to him. "I need to share something with you. A woman was here today." this clouds the plot a little better. ""Yes. I am not of this world," Miriam said softly. "And neither is she."
a pleasant ending:Jenna quivered. "Mom, that place will be filled with spiders, mice, and who knows what else. I'm not going in there."

"Oh Jenna, I promise you it won't be as bad as you think. Just step inside the door, and we'll leave if you still think it's horrible. But nothing ventured, nothing gained."

A wave of alarm crossed his face. "Wait! Am I dead -- and I just don't know it yet?"

Miriam laughed, a gentle sound that held a touch of sympathy. "No, you were almost dead, but you're still of this world."

Thanks so much, Julie. I am still riding high on publishing Unfinished Brushstrokes and being in North Carolina with my great-granddaughters. I finally found time to write a chapter this afternoon.
    Appreciate the thoughts.

I wonder what the girls will find when they open up the door to the mansion. Another great chapter, Carol, with many emotions, the concern by Garth, over Eleanor's find and now the thrill, maybe, for Rebecca.
Great writing,
cheers

My apologies for being so far behind, Valda. I so appreciate your time and the reviews. In North Crolina with the great granddaughters and my time isn't my own, but I am not complaining. Thank you so much.

Garth has a place to start searching for Matthew. The ladies about to go into the old mansion don't realize that Eleanor has already been there. It is good to know that Matthew is healing even though he doesn't know who he is and can't remember Eleanor. Nice writing.

Forgive me for my short thank you but I am so far behind and hope to clear the slate before I leave tomorrow morning. Between the book being published and packing and writing, I'm going crazy. Thank you as always, Smiles, Carol

I'm enjoying the clever pacing of this story. You start us out with Matthew waking up. We're hopeful he remembers something. He doesn't. Eleanor shows up, talks to Miriam. We're hopeful she discovers Matthew. Even with clues, her spirit does not connect with his. The four women are at the mansion. We're hopeful they discover something. No, the chapter ends. I love the back-and-forth, and can't wait to read the next chapter.

We're about to hit a really rocky road and things are going to be spinning in lots of directions.... Cross your fingers that it goes the right way.

Oh yes, you're becoming comfortable writing about the spirit world, people looking like they are solid, there are still questions like eating and drinking, although Jesus ate fish with his disciples, although He is solid, but you're getting good at this, the old mansion holds secrets...well done, blessings Roy

Matthew doesn't really understand what his hostess told him she is, but when she tells him about Eleanor, he has a hint of memory start up. The four women are going to the house, but it sounds as if Matthew is in another small house below the mansion. Is that going to be close enough that the women know where he is?

He's hidden in a very secluded cottage and Miriam is doing her best to keep Eleanor or anyone else from finding him. We'll see who wins out on this one.

I adore old haunted mansions. Castles especially. The creepier the better. In spite of my critical eye I didn't see anything that needed correction. Some of the ghostly ones are my favorite characters. Esther

I would never have thought I would become attached to a ghost character, but I simply adore Eleanor. I love writing her parts all the time. Thanks so much Esther.

Eleanor is rather amazing at picking up clues and sensing where people are and who needs help. I'm glad Rebecca and the others are checking out the mansion. Perhaps they'll meet Miriam and have some questions answered. Blessings. Carol
