What a wonderful poem.
You painted a vision of sad beauty in my mind's eye. I personally love Autumn, it's my favourite season, The cooling days and crisp nights, foretelling of the bleakness ahead while holding in its moment, a breath of the summer just gone.
Thank you for this lovely poem

This was stunning. Not only in imagery but the emotional feeling that I got from reading was awesome. There was such drama throughout. Lovely wordsmithing. Loved the haunting last line. Gretchen

There are beautiful lines throughout this work. Normally I read one or two lines in a poem and that's enough. "And I have never known another place, to burn so bright in red defiance." "I walk through spreading fire"
"One final stroll beneath the burning trees" I won't say you have outdone yourself, because the last poem I read from you was brilliant, but this one evokes strong emotion. Well done.

We visited New York in all four seasons when our elder child was their between 2010-2014, we did four seperate road trips, the last to New England in autumn and saw the mansions of Newport, the Plymouth Rock, and the autumn trees, that resembled England's autumnal dramatics, beautifully and expressively written Jessica, great post, blessings Roy

I could really visualise the autumn colours you describe really well as I was reading and you made your piece feel really immersive as well. I thought you did an excellent job and I really enjoyed reading it. Good luck in the contest.

A wonderful celebration of the pastoral romantic autumn landscape, full of color, and you also captured that fragility of the moment, the sense that everything is fading with the glow of sunset that I have also endeavored to capture myself. It is central to the romantic experience of life. Nice job with the free verse format, great image selection. estory

Dang if you didn't go and win the contest! I had it once, too, and my memory serves it up in beautiful red and amber gold.
Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the contest.
