I was right to start at Chapter One.. Told you I would :)
I love this start to the book, the vivid description and the gripping detail of the pursuit and crash. I felt her fear.
Looking forward to reading the rest of this book.

I know that feeling...I must write this book in 30 days while traveling for the last half of the month.... and read, review, and write short stories, too. I must be losing my mind. LOL

Never fear, Eleanor is here, or soon will be there, and of course, she'll be there soon enough. I think. I hope. No, I'm absolutely sure she'll make it on time. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Eleanor's heart will be broken but she's ready for the fight.... and all the darkness that's about to prevail on those she loves. thanks for stopping by and enjoying Chapter 1... We are off and running!

Carol, that one is really good. Margaret shared her terror and panic with the reader, I could feel the murderous intent of the car impacting hers. Leaving her possibly dead is a cliff hanger. Well done. Esther

Well that was quite a swift, dangerous ride that you took us on in this opening chapter, Carol. And I'm sure there will be much for drama to come. Good luck with this project of a book in a month. wow.
cheers,
valda

Hello, Valda! I am thrilled that you have found the first chapter of this book ...one I hope to be my best of the series. Thanks for the wishes and I pray that you enjoy the story.

I knew you were going to start out with a lot of excitement. I loved your descriptions of Margaret's fear as she gripped the steering wheel trying to stay on the road. I hope Margaret survives. If not, there will be a war between Eleanor and Doyle, a fight I can't even imagine.

I knew this book was going to be exciting. I also know you will finish it within the month. But I'll wish you good luck and blessings anyway.

I am thrilled that you are hyped for this story because I am...if I can pull it off. I shouldnt have put it in the contest because I didn't see that they had changed the 30000 to 10000. I could have done that in a breeze and than had all Nov and DEcember to write. Oh well!

Oh, Carol, this is a great start to your new store for the 'write a novel in a month'. I absolutely loved it. So Eleanor is back with us, but the fate of her sister, Margaret, looks rather bleak. Now on to the next chapter. Ulla xxx

Hello, Ulla - thanks for stopping by to read the first chapter of this story. I appreciate it very much since I think this will be the best of the 3 in the series. Or so I hope!I hope you enjoy it.

Although this is a gripping first chapter to your new book, I'm left wondering how Eleanor is a ghost, yet she is in a bedroom preparing to go to a hearing. I'm assuming this all becomes clear as we get into the book, or perhaps I've missed something by not reading previous works involving this character.

You're taking on a book in a month, Carol! Good for you; if anyone can do it, it's you. Have fun and I look forward to learning more about this ghostly creature.

You have missed a lot, Pam...LOL Eleanor and Danni (who you haven't met) have the capability to materialize as humans and they serve on the police force, helping to solve many cases because they can go places the police can not. Eleanor is one of my favorite characters - she's so caring and humorous, but a fighter if you cross her. I hope you will continue to read the book, because if I can do it, I believe this one is the best of the three in the series. This time the crimes are very personal and involve my characters. A lot of emotion in this one, I think.

thanks so much for reading, enjoying and hopefully following the story.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This is a very good beginning to the start of a novel. Martha is terrified and finds her fears are justified. She begs for her sister to come save her and Eleanor does arrive, but it may be too late. Good cliffhanger to end the chapter on.

Wow, my pulse is racing as I'm reading this! I can feel Margaret's fear. You've left off at a fine time, with Eleanor at the crash site and Margaret trapped in the car. What could be worse?!!! I'm glad this will be written in a month, so I won't have too long to wait for the next segment. LOL. Great writing. Blessings. Carol

I hope I can get it in during the month. It's got a lot going on. If I had seen the rules changed from 30,000 to 10,000 I might have submitted something else. But we are here and away we go!

10,000 words is not many for a novel. Maybe people complained that they couldn't write 30,000 in a month. ??? I'm sure your book will be spectacular, at whatever length.
