What a heartfelt account of Wayne's stroke and rescue. It is certainly well written and brings us to the scene. It is good that help came soon, as it is important that treatment needs to be as soon as possible. Your author's note brings us up to date on his treatment and recovery. I send prayers for continued recovery! Evi

    Hi Evi,

Thank you so very much for the six star rating. You have blessed my heart!! Yes, help got to Wayne in time. He's currently in intensive Rehab in Dallas, which is quite the ride away, but they are confident he will make a full recovery and be back to farming very soon.

    He's quite the fighter!!

    Big Hugs,

Dear Rhonda,

I'm so happy your husband is getting better. Life has a habit of taking us by surprise. Your poem is extremely moving and very well written, but I guess the most important thing is that it was cathartic for you.

I haven't used FS regularly for a long time, I just appear and disappear. I don't know whose poem I read talking about your husband and then yesterday I saw we were friends on FB where I think I appear as Maria Garcia. But I don't use FB much these days either. I use Instagram which automatically shares my things on FB.

Sorry about the long message.

I'm going to check to make sure I'm following you now and I'll try to write something half-decent (yours is exceptional) to add to the book.

Lots of love.xxx

Heather, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your six star gift. The poem was so painful to write, but it left my heart much lighter.

I remember you from being here on and off, and I'm glad we are friends of FB, but I'm hardly ever on there anymore. It started depressing me and I didn't figure I needed any help with that, lol.

Thank you for adding to the book!! What a blessing you are! I'm a bit sporadic right now as we are still dealing with hospital/rehab with Wayne, who is quite a ways away. I also work as a high school science teacher and am raising a 3 year old...at 65 years old.

Love back to you, and a grateful heart.

    Love and hugs,
    Rhonda

    Dear Rhonda,

You don't have to thank me. Your post was exceptional (although it would have been much better if you hadn't had to write it).

I just hope what I wrote helped you to feel a bit less alone.

And please look after yourself. You are doing a lot. I have just retired (at 60, when Wayne is better I'll tell you why I was able to do that) and my children are all grown up 34, 29 and 20, so I understand that while a three year old is adorable, it's also a lot of work.

There was a time when I wrote two posts every day, but that was a long time ago.

Now, as you say, I come and go.

I hardly ever use FB anymore. I decided Instagram was enough, but my posts share automatically to FB.

    Sending hugs,

    Maria (my real name)

    Hi Maria,
Your advice on taking care of myself is spot on. I'm sick right now because I've been running back and forth between home and Dallas, and trying to raise the 3 year old alone. I have to drag her with me, and she's not the best travel companion, lol.

I used to do 2 posts a week on novels and several poems and short stories. I can't keep up with that now, for sure.

I did retire, but right after COVID there was a terrible teacher shortage. Schools were desperate, especially in the small districts like the one I'm in. I got talked into coming out of retirement by a friend.

I really love the school I'm at, but it is seeming much less attractive now that I'm dealing with Wayne and his health issues. He's pretty much back to normal, but watching him going up in a helicopter and not knowing if I would ever see him again, changed my perspective.

    Thanks for your support.

Oh, and I don't do Facebook, Instagram or anything else because every spare minute, I'm on here, lol.

    Hugs back Maria!

Thank you for sharing Wayne's and your story. Thank God for technology and modern medicine but especially thankful for Gods grace and healing hand.
What a blessing for both of you and your family.
My grandson had a stroke last year and he was saved by that grace and the healing touch of God as well.
Blessings
Janet

Oh wow, Janet, what a blessing. You know, better than anyone the wide range of emotions you go through during this time. Praise the Lord. They are getting Wayne moved to an intense Rehab center that will take him the extra steps to full recovery. Time and God on your side is the ticket, and I appreciate all the prayers and for you sharing your story as well.
    Thanks for the six stars!!
    Hugs,
    Rhonda

Rhonda, I'm sorry I don't have anything worthy of your book, but decided to stop by and wish you and Wayne well. I'm glad your stepson got to him so quickly. I will keep you both in my thoughts and wish Wayne a speedy recovery. Have a wonderful day, Frank

    Hi Frank,
I'm so glad you reviewed the story. I'd always much rather someone review thank that they don't. We all like 6's, but I love the reviews even more!!
Wayne is on his way to recovery, though I'm not sure he likes the intense physical therapy, lol. They aren't wasting any time on it, and are probably moving him to a rehab facility where he can get more workouts. They seem to believe they'll have him back to farming before you know it.
    Take care,
    Rhonda

Oh my goodness Rhonda, firstly thank God in the heavens above that Wayne is okay, been through the wars but alive and here to tell the tale, and what a tale it is. You really did it justice relaying it to us in your wonderful poem which I'd imagine was extremely difficult and painful and traumatic to wrote but fair play to you, you did it for Wayne. I will think of you both in my prayers and I hope for a speedy recovery for Wayne. And God bless Mike woe, the hero of the day. I'm so happy that everything turned out positive and you will both continue life's journey together, what a scary event. Best Wishes to you both,
Nicki x

    Hi Nicki,
Thank you so much for the review, my friend, and for the lovely six stars. It was one of the worst moments of my life. I got the call at work, in front of my students. One came up and asked if she could call the librarian in from next door to watch them so I could take the call outside. I thought that was so sweet. I was so grateful I made it to the ambulance before they transferred him to the helicopter. I figured it would be the last time I'd see him. But, praise the Lord, it wasn't. He's in the hospital bed beside me watching TV and making jokes with the nurse. I'll take it!!

    Hugs,
    Rhonda

Oh Rhonda you poor thing...I can't even imagine! That student of yours could tell something wasn't right and was on the ball! What a whirlwind it's been. He moat certainly has a guardian angel watching over him. So scary, want an outcome it's been thanks goodness. I wasn't on Fan story all day until right before bed and thought oh no what's happened! I'm so relieved and happy for you, my best wishes on a speedy recovery for Wayne and for you with the fright you got! Hugs Nicki xxx

Aww, Nicki, thank you so much for your comments and care. It was such as this that helped me through the rough patches. There's a lot ahead of us, but not nearly what's behind. Wayne had a miracle, or several, and he gets a second chance at life. He's aware of it and how close he came to dying. God wasn't finished with him and he knows it.
Now, I've gone back to work and had to leave him in Dallas at a hospital recovering, but we have a 3 year-old who needs me and a farm. He should get out of rehab in about 2 weeks and be good as new.

    Hugs,
    Rhonda

That's what it was Rhonda a miracle, and I know you are both counting your blessings. Not everyone gets a second chance. I hope his rehab goes really well and he'll be back to you as good as new! It jist puts everything into perspective, we don't know what's around the corner!
    Hugs and Best Wishes

Hi Nicki, thank you for your kind words!! He's really improving by leaps and bounds. They are even letting him walk the halls by himself now. We're beginning to see small things now that aren't quite right, where before we focused on new things he could do, so more right than wrong!! Take care,
    Rhonda

Oh I can't imagine how frightening this was for everyone concerned. Strokes are quick and can be deadly. He had angels with him that day and I'm sure every day since. Prayers continue for his increased strength and health and for your health to be able to do what is required of you. Blessings

Yes, Marilyn, he definitely did have angels watching over him. The only people I knew, both my parents, my grandmother, all died of strokes. Wayne broke the mold.

Thank you for your continual prayers. They are so needed and appreciated.
    Hugs,
    Rhonda

Hello, Rhonda.
This is an excellent Poem with many rhymed couplets Telling the story of Wayne. Your poetic structure is excellent, and you have effectively narrated the story in rhyme. It is well conceived and well-written.

    Hi Robert,
Thank you so much for your kind review and comments. I'm glad the poem, itself was good. I was really trying as I knew it would be better that way to communicate the moment when Wayne woke up and told us what happened.
    Take care,
    Rhonda

My friend, I've had Wayne in my prayers since I heard from you. I praise God for His mercy and healing. How He's always a step ahead of us with Michael on call.
Rhonda, this is wonderfully wriiten and with such details. An easy six. :))
Writing is therapeutic for us, isn't it. You filled in the detail for me too. I appreciate the author's notes, especially this: God bless you and thank you for your prayers. They say you can recognize a Master's work because they make it look easy. Lord, you are the Master, because you took something that could have been a disaster and marked it with your signature ease.
Amen! And Amen! So true!
Thanks, too, about AP Life 360. I'll check it out.
Love & Blessings, comfort, peace and every need met in Jesus' Name!

    Hi Sally,
Thank you for your lovely comments and the beautiful six stars that light up our hospital room.
It was weird how we were all doing what people do when there is a disaster and try to put the pieces together of what might have happened, what thoughts were going through the person's head.

Then, to have them sort of wake up and fill it all in was incredible. I think it has really helped link the boys more to their father. They were there to save him!! Yay.

Of course, and they will agree, God was behind the whole miraculous thing.

    Big hugs and much love,
    Rhonda
