Ooh, Eean, those are some of the sweetest compliments I have ever had. You are so awesome and I am so touched. Truthfully, I was talking about how I dreaded my 70th birthday, but I still feel like 17 mentally. So I guess that is what counts. My profile picture is from my 65th birthday and I haven't changed that much so thank you so much. And for the lovely six stars too!!
After all the lovely poems and stories that were written for me on my birthday, I thought how can you feel down when there are so many people showing love. So thank you for your most kind words and I feel even better than I was already feeling.

it sounds like you had a delightful birthday. I don't pay them much attention anymore, but my family likes to make a big deal about them for some reason. Last year my daughter, who is a baker at a local cafe' baked me a green Hoochy cake. Hoochies, in case you're not familiar, are vinyl octopus fishing lures that drag behind a flasher to attract primarily salmon. I loved it, and encouraged her to make some more for sale at the bakery to appeal to the other fishermen, but she never took my advise, probably to the bakery's detriment. Oh well.

You know, Tom. I really didn't want anyone to even bring it up, let alone get 12 poems for it. But as they did this I felt more and more loved and at home the phone was ringing, text messages and emails, hundreds of them on facebook and I thought. You know what, maybe I do make a difference in others lives. So I just felt so good about what all had done for me.
And talking about a hoochie cake, I thought you were talking about one that I made over a thousand that people ordered for the men in their lives. I was a cake decorator for years. Anything that anyone wanted for a cake, my imagination would either draw it on a cake or I would built it. Even made giant beer can cakes. You name it. I will send you a picture of what I thought you meant by hoochie cake by email.
So thanks my dear friend for the lovely comments about aging. Thanks to all of you and others at home, I had the best birthday ever and I wonder why I wasted so much time while I worried about it.

Hoochies, the fishing lures, were created after WWII as I understand. Apparently one pilot was shot down and was in the water and watched as small fish picked at the threads on his clothes. He named the lures after the Hoochie Koochie girls in the bars. I went wading once in Ohio years ago wearing shorts. The minnows were trying to eat the hair on my legs. It felt weird.
Wow, a professional cake decorator. I bet you came up with some real works of art gal. I look forward to the picture.

Hi Debi,
I read the email and saw the interesting cakes before I came on FS. I might show my daughter, Autum, the baker the cakes, but I suspect she won't be doing any. I'm amazed at how much cakes go for at the cafe'. I'll just get a Betty Crocker one and bake my own, though I prefer pie.

Hey Ric, If I promise not to get a headache, or not laugh at you would you sing then? You can't be as bad as my neighbor who came to our house to sing to me and sounded like a bull frog.
But I appreciate the kind thoughts for my birthday too. So I thank you so very much.
I had a wonderful one thanks to everyone here and everyone at home. It really proved to me that my feeling inside like I am 22 is the one that counts.
My profile picture was taken five years ago on my birthday and they say I still look pretty close to the same, so my family said I don't have to worry about them trading me in for a new model yet. LOL. They were giving me a hard time for taking the birthday thing so hard. '
So I am glad to have a change of heart about turning a new decade as it could always be worse.
Thanks again for the kind thoughts. And I still would like to hear you sing...

I dreaded this for months and months and between the love of people at home and the love from people here, not just the poems but the nice wishes and shows how much I am appreciated when I do them. You are so sweet and if you would have heard my conversation with the voice to text deal you would have been rolling on the floor. It was just being a jerk when I was trying to not have to type so much, but it wouldn't listen. I would even spell out the word and it would still put the wrong word. So I said FU and it said it back to me. I mean i said just the letters F and U. And it spelled out the whole word at me. Ooh, this thing makes me mad.
