This was very captivating, Gypsy. It was dark and very gothic. Like one of those old gothic romances I used to read as young girl. Your poetry takes me to different levels and I can imagine a story with each one. Gretchen

You hit the senses with this poem. It's sad and I can see the Halloween influence. Once again, you've shown us your beautiful talent. We are so blessed that you share it with us.

Gypsy,
Your poem is darkly seductive and very beautiful. I took it that her tears were that of yearning, or her deep understanding of him.
The last line is incredible.
Awesome poem, Gypsy.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Great illustrations! I feel that this is a sad poem. As always, you conjure up all kinds of senses from the "air and starless sky " to the "dark midnight scent."

Tanka poetess, Yosano Akiko, wrote a book of tanka poems called, "Tangled Hair" on 1901. All the poems were about her hair. Her poems were very sensual.
Thank you very much, big sister.

Thus is a good piece for the Halloween Haiku, it describes both scary and to me morbid attraction. Perhaps as I not a really big Halloween person, but I can still see the creativity in your post. Thank you for sharing

Just from seeing the artwork that illustrates this Tanka poem, I would guess you are an artist, too. It was simply beautiful and set the mood for the somewhat "dark" poem. I liked it, because it was unique.
