You've captured the agony of loss with images and word choice in lines one and three especially. Excellent use of alliteration with the 's' sound. Personification of nature heightens the sadness.

Hi, Wendy,
This is an especially poignant poem. The photo shows a grieving man; your words portray his sadness. "Death's cold," very nice description.
Best wishes,
Cindy

I relate to this setting and sentiment. Your words convey your feelings of darkness and cold emptiness. It has been 7 and 1/2 years for me, after 46 years of warmth and love. I wish you peace; I wish you warmth and love ahead.

This is such a sad poem. The man is full of grief (presumably lost a loved one). The last line keeps us guessing: Was he referring to the death of his loved one or is he thinking of ending his own life and get rid of his bereavement. Perhaps, I am overthinking. Well written. Best for the contest.

Thinking of the death of his loved one was what I had in mind, but the other is another quite possible layer. Thank you so much for your very thoughtful review.

Nice 's' alliteration , good syllables count and connection between lines. I would connect lines 1 and 2 grammatically to improve the flow, but it's not necessary. Beautiful presentation and imagery.

An exceptional entry for the
3 Line Poetry Contest.

shadows shroud his grief
(as) sun's warmth and light have left -
death's cold night surrounds

Being bereaved can take time psychologically, you have to let the good things outweigh the bad. In time this will happen.
Your picture and colors are very nice.
Congratulations on be Recognized and being an All Time Best.
Good luck in the contest.

This 5-7-5, Loss, has the proper formatting and finds the person who has lost his world and cannot see a path forward. Devoted couples often find the loss unsurmountable.

Hello Wendy,
I think you captured the sense of grief and loneliness that this poor man is experiencing perfectly. Too many of us as we age will come to experience these unwanted feelings. Well done gal. Good luck in the contest.
Blessings,
Tom
