I've got a half a second so I'll stay here for that long. L O L Kathy said maybe you don't need the MRI. I said maybe not but I'll take it anyway to see what they say. So I had my MRI. You are welcome, my second is up. L O L

This is wonderful. So glad you remembered. I didn't see any contests or anything relating to National Anthem Day. Great comments, and I'm afraid many people have forgotten what the National Anthem stands for. Some want to make the Black National anthem the star at football games and such. I remember one time I was at a concert where the Star Spangled Banner played. For some reason, the parents had left their children unattended, but the children knew to stand for it and placed their hands over their hearts for the Pledge. I felt proud they did that. I am sad when people disrespect the Star-Spangled Banner, as many do these days. Excellent rhyme and flow in your poem. I love that you included all three songs. The Lee Greenwood song was so meaningful after 9-11, Great work. judi

Awe, Judi, you have no idea how much this means to me that you would find this one and review it. And then give it a six star too. Thank you so very much. The NA does mean a lot to me and so happy that it does to you too.
When I saw some football players take a knee during the National Anthem in 2020 one team never came out of the locker room for it, I was so angry I boycotted national football for two years.
I believe our younger years of pride when we put our hands over our hearts and said the Pledge of Allegiance made the pride we feel now so strong. I even stand up at home for the NA.
And I still get choked up and usually tears come down. The pride you and I have is lost to the rest of the generations.
Thank you again, Judi, and I hope you are doing better.
Love, Debi

I grew up living on military bases, and when we went to the movie theater on base, they always played the national anthem before the movie, which we would stand up for. I was surprised to find later that this didn't happen in all theaters! And not only that, but many of my friends didn't know you were supposed to stand when you heard it. Thank you so much for writing an honoring post for what our country stands for, and the flag that represents it. I fear most in leadership have lost their way, and it's reminders like this that could help lead it back.

This is an inspiring post. Being proud of one's flag is one event where you American's really shine. I often wish we Aussies shared your levels of patriotism. I think we are getting better. Seeing your sporting heroes clashing their fist to their heart while the anthem plays is stirring. A number of Aussies have now adopted this practice. Great to see.

Bob, you are so thoughtful and I appreciate your kind comments regarding our patriotism. I guess I've always felt the same for your country. No matter how our country is run, our service members and flag deserve our respect.
Thank you also for your generous six stars. So appreciated, my dear friend.

This is a beautiful tribute to our national anthem. I too remember putting my hand on my heart and repeating the Pledge of Allegiance each morning in grade school. America may have issues, but I still think it's the best place to live.

I love your poem about the American anthem and what it means to us. It makes me proud and teary-eyed. You are right, our soldiers deserve respect and support for their lives after they come home.
Well done, debi.

Thank you for telling me about National Anthem Day! I was on Flag duty also in grade school. We took turns raising the flag in the mornings. And what an anthem we have with such a wide range of notes and poetry!
I remember seeing a movie about the first Olympics in 1896 and the band player chose this possible anthem for our country. But that was all fiction because our national anthem wasn't official until March 3, 1931. That's so recent! No wonder March 3 is National Anthem Day!

Hi Helen, actually the national anthem was written in the 1800s, but didn't officially become the NA until 1931, like you said.
I love hearing yours and everyone's memories. It has been so refreshing to hear I am not the only one who gets so choked up.
And thanks for the incredible review for my National Anthem poem. I appreciate it so very much.

probably the only song I know all the words to. {I also know Happy Birthday} So, on the 4th of July, I get to sing both of them with confidence. Nice work.

You know, I'm not American, but to a certain extent I feel as if I was... Weird, eh?
I also get chills when I listen to your national anthem.
My favourite version, though is a heavy metal one. :)
Thanks for sharing your rhymes with us once again. xxx
