I have a son who is afraid to be alone. He thinks he is incomplete with out a woman. I've told him to turn his focus inward. Work on himself and some of his fears might be alleviated. This was a very deep and wise poem. Gretchen

I used to feel that way.... I was complete without a man but I don't feel like that anymore.
Thank you very much for your excellent review and kind words.

Thank you for sharing this reality with us. So often couples may live together but keep almost separate lives. It's sad when a marriage is at that stage. Your presentation was excellent.

I don't believe in man caves nor my wife in women's nests.
We share everything. There are times we are alone, but never lonely. In our 45 years of marriage, we've always done things together and always included our kids when they were smalll.
If the kid had hot dogs for dinner, by golly so did my wife and I. And we always ate together.
Your post says so much in so few words.
Excellent .

Thank you for the exceptional six stars review and kind words.
I agree, lonely is different. I added a message in my author notes. I'm happy for you. True love is hard to find. :)

Hi Gypsy, good observation of married life. It's good that each partner have their own interests, but when that interests keeps them separated, that's not a good thing. Looking at your photo, if the animal heads and the pool table were removed, I might like that as my hangout. Well done. Keep the blue waters flowing. Xo. M

Hello, Gypsy!
Your senryu surely resonates with me as my husband loves to be in his workshop, ie, "man cave."
I'm not lonely, as I am always writing... so my last word would be "contentment" = for both of us!
Much enjoyed, Gypsy!
Thank you for sharing!

yes, this is a poem, not true life. This is about the concept that a person can still feel lonely in a relationship or in a room with other people. Being alone is another thing. People can live quite happy by themselves.
thank you😊 very much, Diane
I'm happy you have a good relationship.

Oh, I understand completely!
I don't believe I have ever felt "lonely," in my relationship with my dear husband, but I we are both often "alone"... but within shouting distance! :)
Lovely offering, Gypsy!

There's nothing that can feel more lonely than to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you. And I guess the husband in the man cave has made this poor wife feel so sad. Well expressed in your senryu poem!

Yes, why doesn't everybody get my writing the way you do?
Thank you very much, big sister. Big kisses and hugs.
