Hi Terry,
Thank you for sharing your art with us, along with information on Peter Max. I had never heard of him before, but I can't say that now. It is quite interesting.
Strangely enough, we have another coincidence. I'm a Master Gardener, too. I don't have the time lately to put into it that I did when I was retired, but I enjoy networking with other garden enthusiasts.
Thanks for sharing,
Rhonda

Rhonda, thank you for reviewing. Ann told me you were a Master Gardener. Zoe took it when she retired and eventually became President of the Denton County MG.
You can google Peter Max, Flower Blossom Lady, and you will see some images of the artwork. Terry.

Oh wow, I?m so proud of her for that achievement! I was more active when I was still retired, but President! That?s something.
I?ll look up Peter Max, thanks for the introduction!

I'm always amazed by people's assumptions based on other people's likes or life choices. Beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder. Same goes for art or writing or music. I like Max's description of the angels' precious cargo, faith and hope. Thank you for sharing, Terry.

Art is subjective in the eyes of each who views it. However, when you do find a piece that clicks with you, it can make a difference in your world.

Excellent story, Terry. Loved every word. Angels on high, indeed. I, too, derive solace from my artwork. Recently, I came to realize that 99% of my art pieces are of women. All except for the work made of small pieces of leather, an Aztec warrior depicted in front of a pyramid. Most of my pieces are by Frida Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera. Though on a trip to Santa Fe, I splurged on several pieces by Native American artist R. C. Gorman. They spoke to me. My home would be devoid of history, culture, and mysticism without them.

Sol, I too, have some Gorman's. My wife loved everything, Rivera and Frida. I have several with her as a subject, and I have a couple of books on their art, but sadly none of the original work. I am afraid I would have to break into a museum to get the ones I want...LOL. Thank you for the six star review. Terry.

This is an interesting story about Peter Max and your art collecting. Is the angel painting your fourth Max or a Warhol as you mentioned him? I enjoyed the Calling All Angels music. I would enjoy seeing your Flower Blossom Lady painting and hear why it so reminded you of Zoe.

Carol, thank you for the review. One original by Andy Warhol, and four by Peter Max. You can google Peter Max Flower Blossom Lady, and you can see the image. He did several a little different. Zoe was a Master Gardener, and the flowers around the lady and the colors seemed to fit. Terry.

Hey Terry! I am so close to a six with this- but maybe that's because it ticks so many mutual boxes. I started my career in teaching back in Oxford 1967 as an Art specialist - mostly ceramics (my tutor was David Leach!) textiles and design. I was no painter - but loved all aspects of the subject - and that has continued till today.
But I also have connections with stamps and angels - and Chagall in particular; no time to talk about philately here, but my interest in Angelology became so significant, I made an academic study of the subject - and put together a book of poems - the most advanced called 'The White Clown' - but that probably won't appear on FanStory. Some of the smaller ones might. Theologically speaking I utterly believe in angels and demons, and have met some of the latter! Fortunately several friends have met some of the former - many, many stories to tell.
But to get back to your fascinating artist, Peter Max - I wish I knew more about him - and of course I shall do my research very soon. The parts you have given us are enormously intriguing - and that you own several of his paintings is mind blowing! But my favorite part of your wonderful blog revolves around those thirty-six vintage Corvettes. Well, you simply couldn't make it up! Thanks, Terry. A wonderful read.

Paul, thank you for the most intriguing review. You got some stories to tell. Max is a complicated guy. You can find images of Flower Blossom Lady on the internet. He did lots of versions. Terry.

Thanks Terry.
A really interesting bio.

Well written.
I would never accuse you of being some hoity-toity a-hole. (smiley face here)
People who are not the above referenced type collect what they like. they don't even have to connect them (yellow flowers - white sandy beach - ugly clown)
Best wishes.

I'm a painter, figurative mostly heavily influenced by Matisse, and I do enjoy many artists from past to present.
How fortunate you are to have become a collector, I can't imagine possess original artwork.
I am somewhat familiar with Peter Max's work. Art in the 60's was wild and inventive, I love that era.
Nice write, Terry.
Thanks for sharing.

Life without art appreciation, is a life without imagination, a life devoid of color and excitement. In other words, a life without art is dull, drab and missing love, joy and peace. This is of course, my opinion.

I remember Peter Max' s artwork from the early seventies. I always liked the colors. I am a big fan of Martha Cahoon who painted fantasy pictures of mermaids and animals. Art makes us feel good and I enjoyed reading your essay about your collection. I am sorry to hear that Peter Max has dementia.
