Well crafted and engaging language which suits the style I associate with the Viking era but probably many other wars too.
The image is stark and menacing just as war is perceived and enacted.
Each stanza flows perfectly and connects with the one before and after as a story unfolds.

Thank you for the great review, Audrey. If interested I actually have a second part to this. It's a story rather than a poem. It's titled The Escape. I had it entered into another contest over the weekend. It's in my portfolio if you'd like to check it out. Ron, this is a very good poem for this contest. The rhymes and flow make the poem easy to read and fun to read. As I read it out loud, I can feel the rage of the warrior building, and the image in my mind does match the picture. Excellent work. Terry.

Plus, I try to stuff as much story into the piece with the fewest words possible. That takes a lot of work but it's worth it in the end. I may have to see where my guy goes from here. Lol.
