I thought I should take a peek at your work and this is what I discover!
This is a wonderful poem, I loved it.
Leading us from the pre-storm forecast, through the day of gambolling leaves, a misty sunset and the overnight snow, to the calm and tranquility of a snow-silenced town. Beautiful.
Congratulations on a very deserving win.
. . . Oh dear, I think the bar may have been lifted a little too high for me.

Let's see, Rod... coastal Nor'easter right now? You must be up around Maine somewhere. I only just got my first snow today and I'm just south of Montreal. So far as I know, there hasn't been a flake in RI yet... and believe me, I'd know! Nothing's been that cold.

Actually, I live in Chicago and we got our first snow Monday. But the system was pushing east. Glad you liked the poem, Susan, and thanks for the congrats. Rod

Ahhhh.... Lake effect snow they call it, but I hear that living on the Great Lakes really can be like living on the ocean. I've heard about ships going down on the lakes, like they go down on the ocean, never to be found again in those lakes.
As for me, I was born and raised on the RI coast in Narragansett, so I've grown up with it all. Now I'm in the mountains of Vermont and loving it! They had their first bomb cyclone last winter, I knew what it was, we have them in RI all the time. It was a first for the NEK. lol Guess I brought them with me!

Superb use of metaphors and alliteration and great choice of rhymes. You described the effects of the storm well and I really liked the fairy dance of the leaves. A well deserved win!!

This is rhymed well, and I noticed there are a lot of words that begin with the letter 'S' - was that intentional? It works well here. Enjoyed this poem.

As, as someone who lived in New York for decades and now lives in Florida, any mention of snow is like a balm to my nostalgia (smile). Yes, I know, Northeaster can be quite rough, here we only have hurricanes (lol), though rough too. I just miss snow. I miss it all the time.
