Such reverence and serenity! You set the tone in line one and carry it throughout...
I have never failed to feel nearer to God when in nature!
Even the breeze is a prayer!

As I've often said, when it comes to poetry, I wouldn't know a sonnet from sorbet. But I always enjoy reading what others have to say, and hope that I can decipher their poems as they've intended them to be understood. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for reminding us to pause and with mindfulness absorb the beauty and majesty of creation. God's qualities are evident in every colorful leaf and branch of a tree. Simple yet profound proof of His existence and grace.

Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
Your faith contest entry was well thought out, JLR. I could
see you sitting quietly immersed in nature (your garden) as
God spoke to you through the trees, the birds, and other
of nature's elements. Your lines were smooth to read and
created great imagery. I liked the last line about forgoing
material things into what you need--God's beautiful things
He made for all.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Hi J, I don't know if you do, or if you just chose the picture, but I love living in a place of seasons, and I couldn't imagine living in a place without them. As much as I hate raking leaves, I did 10 bags just yesterday, and then had to dig more out of a drainage ditch to make sure it was cleared out... having no more bags... ugh. I do hate the clean-up, but oh, what a show! Worth every minute!
I wouldn't trade my seasons for the world, not even the skeletal one. Trees are lovely all the time.

Susan I stand or sit on my deck daily and marvel at our backdrop. Yes those leaves do require a bit of back-breaking labor for me to. But the salve I get in return is so soothing in my soul.
Comment from Verna Cole Mitchell
This is beautiful with lyrical phrases and deep spiritual meanings. The first verse is my favorite with the reminder that the eyes and ears of our hearts are bought with grace.
