Hi ,
I absolutely loved your hoot of a tale.
Very believable it was too and I agree there definitely is a 'haves' and 'have-nots' divide when it comes to a sense off humour.
To be smiling not frowning right now is such a wonderful feeling.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings
Shirley

G-d bestowed a sense of humor on me as well, but I suspect he got to you when the trays were full, while my serving was more like the Boston Market stuffing or mashed potato bins at the end of the day, when they're trying to scrape out the last little bits stuck in the corners.

All of which is a long way (and long sentence) to tell you that your story is very funny! I was smiling throughout and, not surprisingly, your images were vivid enough that I could picture the scenes as though I were there.

You haven't cornered the market on non-empathetic children, though. My 18-year-old daughter still hasn't forgiven me for ruining her kindergarten graduation (two words that were never used in the same sentence when I was growing up) by showing up with a black eye from having fallen -- painfully! -- on my face! Just as with your daughter, she made sure I knew how I'd embarrassed her, words which I believe are ingrained in children's brains at birth!

That aside, I really did enjoy your story. You have a delightful, self-deprecating sense of humor that shines through brilliantly in this story.

It's nice to know I'm not alone. (Did you have pictures taken with the graduate? Those have to be priceless!)

Thanks for the extremely nice review, and the extra star, as well. Both are very appreciated.

You know I review honestly. You deserved the comments and the stars.

As far as graduation pictures, I was lucky she stayed in the same room with me. I?d never have gotten her in the same photograph!

This is so funny. You have a great way of bringing in the details that add to the humor, like the description of your dress. I could just see it blowing in the wind. Your daughter's reaction sounded typical teenager. She felt she was ruined in the eyes of her friends because of what had happened to you and your floating dress. I can't believe having chickens in a city. Surely there are laws about that. I liked that the woman was willing to sacrifice her appearance for the sake of rescuing her chicken. Great description of the super model chickens. judi

Bagel mom, soccer mom, room mother, den mother, you-name-it-mother... the job description is fraught with 95% potential for disaster, stress, misunderstanding, underappreciation, hurt feelings, and confrontation while there is only a 5% chance of fulfilling appreciation from parents and children. I was a Cubmaster for two years. My favorite response to complaining parents was, "You want this shirt? I mean, you can have it, but you have to wear it for the rest of the year up here in from of everyone!" Their eyes got really big, and they usually stopped talking.

Worthy of a six for the quality of your excellent and humorous writing, and the clever development of each of your stories with a great introduction, and a nice circling back to it in the conclusion. Well done.

Well, at least she saved her precious chicken that is probably too arrogant to make nuggets out of. Then children would love her. What a wonderfully written story. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day, and God bless.

This was a wonderful story, full of great writing and funny moments. I personally don't think we do justice to motherhood if we don't embarrass our kids at least once in their protected lives. LOL!

So, there I stood, mere inches from a table full of maintenance workers, with the bottom of my inverted leopard dress sandwiched between my stylish hat and fancy sunglasses. [Loved to have seen this...LOL]

It's imperative to embarrass the kids often, and it's a responsibility I take very seriously!

Oh, Rachael...I HAVE missed you so! You are one of the funniest people I've read in ages. I laughed all the way through... out loud! Not just smiling to myself. Giggling, chuckling, and downright belly-laughing 'till my tummy hurts! I have really missed your voice.
