Oh, wow! This was a very touching story and an great read. I was rooting for y'all the entire time. I could feel the chemistry between the two of you radiating off my screen as I read.

Thank you so much, 11:17, for your extra special six-star review and kind words. This story, like many of my posts has numerous parts (I think four for this one), and they make more sense read in sequence. I'm so glad you a piece of the puzzle. And I can't thank you enough for going back and reading a story that offers no Fan money. Much appreciated!

It feels like part of it at least, is true. The feelings are so exquisitely described. The chemistry is total but unsustainable. A great story, but hard to live through I imagine.
I still have longings for my second and fourth husband. Yes, let me down big time. And I know I can never trust him again. But my hormones and my poor battered heart, remember when it was as good as it can possibly get. And, at those times, I suffer brand new. (cheery little thing aren't I?)

Well, much of what we write as fiction has lots of truths in it. And even if we don't write about our own truths, they would undoubtedly be truth to someone. I'm so glad you like this story, since it's way outside my comfort zone and like nothing I'd ever attempted before. You've made my week! Now, I just hope you like the following chapters as much as the first. Thank you so much! I can't thank you enough.

The story is already inside your big ole brain, you just have to coax it out.

Wow. This is blockbuster great! Fast moving, written in grabyourightbytheass first person. The 'heart attack' theatric was great!
I have found (in my wasted past life that if you can say or do something to make a girl curious, she will almost always come back to check you out.
Great story!

Thank you so much, Irish, for your extra special six-star review and kind words. There are four parts to this one and I tried to make each one better than the last. Whether I succeeded or not I don't know. LOL. But parts 3 and 4 are still paying well at least through the day or maybe part of tomorrow if you're interested. I'm glad you liked the first part. Thanks for taking the time. Much appreciated!

Hi Ric...I thought it would be a good idea to do some catching up on 1 and 2 before reading 3 and 4, and I must say I'm glad I did. Although the characters had plenty of life, they were more subtle than other characters in some of your previous stories, which I liked. The story was slowed down a bit and it was easier to get to know them.
Loved the silliness juxtaposed to the sentimental. If this is an autobiography it's impressive. If it's fantasy, it's very imaginative. By using your nom de plume, it leaves it up in the air (unless Ric Myworld is your real name??). The poetry at the beginning and end was a titch of brilliance. If you wrote those lines perhaps you should be nurturing the poet you've so often denied. Great job.

Thank you so much, Linda, for your extra special six-star review and kind words. Yes, I just wanted to do something different and outside my comfort zone with this story. And yes, like most fiction, there is more truth in many stories than writers would care to admit. Ric Myworld isn't my real name, but I'll leave the stories origins up in the air. LOL. I'm so glad you liked my attempt at poetry, since you know it's not something I do. Most of all, your perceptiveness of my silliness that I always like to add in everything, no matter how serious makes my week. I appreciate YOU, as always!

Sorry, Ric, we've had a death in the family, so I'm having to catch up.
So, Ric Myworld is your name? I like it! I'm wondering if there is more fact than fiction in this story, because it certainly sounds like the Ric I have been conjuring up in my imagination. :)) To think you and Lori were on and off for thirty years, and still didn't tie the knot? Now that's what I call sloooow. If I'd have known you then, (you'd not have looked twice at me) I would have soon put you right and told you to do something mad, like marry the girl!! But she died! WHAT! I'm off to read the next part now. :) Sandra xx

Hello, Sandra, I'm so sorry for you loss! I meant for this to be a single post, but people convinced me to write a part two, and now with that ending, I'll have to write a part three. So, bear with me. LOL. Thanks for the generous review and kind word, I always appreciate YOU!

Wow! While I was on hiatus you most certainly took a "Hot vacation" with a seductive female. Strange I didn't run into you since I spent nine months on Destin beach and Fort Walton... but not the bars. LOL What a story! It suits you perfectly ... sure it wasn't non-fiction. Loved it!

Smiles and hugs, Carol

Thank you, Carol, for going back to read the first part of this story, I thought you have read it, not sure when you came back. Everything in this story so far took place back in the early to middle 1980s. And like most fiction, there is tons of truths sprinkled like dipping dots on ice cream. LOL. I'm so glad to have you back, but had I know you were in the Destin are for nine-months, I might have drug you out for a calm glass of wine. I appreciate the great review, but most of all, YOU!

I was up, down, somewhere in the middle and all over the scale in emotions while reading this story. The scene setting was perfect, the characters believable and well-defined and the dialogue natural. I smiled, almost laughed out loud as I read through the story. Then I was almost sad at the ending until I remembered the fun the two had enjoyed over the years -- that's the good part and it is always the memories that fill the pockets of loss. Great job! ann

Thank you so much, Ann, for going back to read this story that offers no reward. Those are the reviews that mean the most to me when they come from those I read and enjoy regularly. I'm so glad you liked it. And I can't thank you enough for the extra special six-star review. I appreciate YOU!

What a great piece of writing! And the poetry works well with it. Now, you say you don't know sonnet from sorbet, but I'm starting to wonder...

Take care,
Erika

Thank you so much, Erika, for your extra special six-star review and kind words. I just wanted to get outside my comfort zone and offer up something different than action, but still leave a little foolishness for fun. I always appreciate your writing and reviews, but most of all, YOU!

Superb piece of writing. Witty, humorous, with an unexpectedly poignant ending that left me both sad and nostalgic at the same time. A very realistic post and a gripping story. So well done.

Now I understand why you said you could be here today and gone tomorrow.

I have told you before that you like to dangle your modifiers...
An opening clause separated by a comma has to agree with the following noun or pronoun...
"Never a big fan of sleazy dancing-girl joints, we decided to grab a liter for later at Cash's Liquor store..." ('a big fan' is singular, and 'we' is plural. It should either be "Never a big fan of sleazy dancing-girl joints, I..." OR "Never big fans of sleazy dancing-girl joints, we...")

Well, I don't catch a lot of those whatever you call them modifier things that sounds like penis, but even I should have noticed this one right off. What amazes me is: no one else has noticed it at all. LOL. Thanks for pointing it out. Maybe I'll be more cautious in the future . . . Thanks for your generous review and suggestions. I appreciate YOU!
