A very good reason to write. It is kind of like reeling in a fish, whether it is small or big object depends on the nature of your imagination. I love to write, also, so I know exactly how important it is for our mental ability.

Lisa,
You've mostly said what I feel about writing, only you've said it so much more eloquently.
I'm bookcasing this work, so when I get writer's block--if there is such a thing--(every idea has potential), I can get some inspiration.
Congratulations on your first place, Lisa.
It is much deserved.
Blessings,
Cindy

Excellent entry for the Why I Write writing prompt contest. Good form. You followed the rules of the contest well.
Writing is a good way to get your feelings on paper and out of your mind.
We all have stories to tell and fanstory is the perfect place for it.
Well done. Good luck in the contest.

This essay, Reeling in the Words, has a boat-load of metaphors. Also, the inset rhyme-a-thon explanation is a fun-run for the uni-verse.

This was very interesting. You gave many reasons why you write. I really liked "The fish are biting." I have never thought about writing ideas like that. I will remember that. Your first few paragraphs rhymed nicely, and your story was told well. Nice job.

My stories and poems become a record of my time on Earth.
I do it primarily for my own entertainment, or in the hope it will add something to another's day.
These two thoughts greatly describe my why as well. Nice essay.

This is extremely well written, and very clever with its poetic parts in the middle, and its touch of humour, along with the obvious passion for writing and the desire to do it well. The image of reeling in the fish is perfect. Writing, like fishing does provide sustenance as a creative outlet, and knowing how to fish/write well does make one richer forever. Your thoughts echo mine perfectly - we are on the same page for sure. Well done. Best wishes for your entry.

This is a well-reasoned analysis of one person's relationship with writing. I find it interesting that the author likens writing to an essentially solitary sport (fishing).

Thanks for your comments. I've used a fishing metaphor because writing feels relevant to this saying which I have always thought very wise: ''If you give a man a fish, he will be hungry tomorrow. If you teach a man to fish, he will be richer forever.''

Dear Mystery Writer,
I really enjoyed the metaphor of writing as a fishing excursion. It can certainly be so appropriate to that!!
This piece was well-written and entertaining. So relatable. I appreciate your time! Good luck!
