Sounds like a 14 year old's frame up: "Did he ever get into trouble?" He sound like Eddie Haskell: "Not me, Granny!" In 2nd grade one of the kids swore. When I told the teacher, I got my mouth washed out with soap. whaaat?

Haha, I love this one too! Holy shit granny you did that to dad? Priceless!
I remember doing that to my oldest daughter when she was like ten. We always said that this girl came out of my womb smarting off. However as she spit and sputtered through the entire process, the one who really suffered was me, with guilt as I swore I would never do that again. Yet it didn't do much good as it was just her nature to always say what was on her mind, and she still does. But now has more kinder ways to talk to her mom.....Thank you Terry for another awesome and fun story to read. I only stumbled upon it when I saw that you won second place, and congrats for that too!

Comment from Poetic Friend
I heard other grandparents have done the same or said that they have done so.
Regardless, this is a delightful story and teaches respect. I was taught to respect your elders, including not using profanity in their presence.
Great usage of word economy and character development.
Good luck in the contest, and happy holidays!

Oh-oh! And I think with all the additional ingredients used in soaps today, it's good that they stopped that practice! Thanks for the fun story and I'm guessing your father didn't use cuss words much!

You have twisted the story, I know it is true, your granny too laugh at your words, visiting your Grandmother and how you used a bar of soap for washing has been a matter of good climax of the story, I like and have enjoyed the read; well said, well done; keep writing. ALCREATOR LITT DEAR

"I grabbed his shirt collar, dragged him to the sink and washed out his mouth with soap!"
"Holy shit! Granny, you did that to Dad?"
Sometimes you have to tell it like it is!
Cool Write; and funny.

Hah, Terry!
Delightful!
Was never on the receiving end of a bar of soap in my mouth, but an elder sister was! Parents told that tale so many times that the rest of us didn't dare to anything to warrant the same experience!
Thank you for the smile!
Best Wishes!

This is one of those life events that just carries its own irony and humour without any need of embellishment. I bet your granny laughed for weeks and longer about that.

LOL, I know Granny laughed. I have often thought she did more so about the memory of what she did to Dad, than what I said, but who knows. Thank you! Terry.
