Congrats on your prize for this contemplative and eloquent poem--powerful imagery--blend both smooth and rough/grit and faith will be enough. Cheers. LIZ

Ciao Sugarray!
Glad to see this beautiful poem made the poem of the month contest !
You used very descriptive words to give your poem life.
The first 2 verses speak of life's trials in a metaphoric way ..
And I love this phrase that follows :
Where was the smoothness of the clay;
the bright sunshine that blessed my way?
(My mamma sculptured and I love the texture of clay .. biggrin)
We are not alone ...God is with us , we just need to search for him in inside us:
Then, deep inside I felt His peace,
a gentle nudge, a calm release.
What a comforting certainty and great rhyme .. these two lines combine perfectly.
We are not alone in these troubled times and our ...
grit and faith will be enough to face what the world throws at us and we will succeed in reaching
the other side of the sea..
......bridge over troubled waters.... came to mind reading your closing verse.
Keep safe sugarray!

This is another sophisticated poem with a lot of internal reflection which I should learn. Yes. This is a difficult time and I'm also looking forward to reaching to the other side.
Well done.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Amen to that. What is going on?! It is scary, but what a blessing to know that God is in control no matter what and we can leave it in His hands. He is the bridge over the stormy seas. Well done as always. Rox

Your metaphoric poem is so on the mark about the journey of life. We all have our ups and downs and have to hang in there. Inevitably, when we realize we have His support, it becomes easier.
The poem is lovely in its rhyming and the imagery is outstanding.

I certainly admire the rhythm in this. It's very smooth. Your concluding couplet has such truth and feeling in it. There's so much uncertainty in out lives now, we need to have something we can hold on to. In this case, the sea provides the answers. This is very thoughtful, and your word choices are just right to get across your feeling. judi

You use imagery to great effect in this poem, Melissa. Beautifully metered and rhymed, it gives encouragement to all of us who are going through tough times.
I have my personal challenges to face. But my heart goes out to so many others - like parents struggling to care for young children in this pandemic, in many cases without sufficient financial resources; and to places around our world where people already living on the edge are being pushed further into darkness and despair.
Your poem appears as a beacon of much needed hope and light.
Thank you for sharing.
Stay safe and blessed

Good Morning, Melissa!
Well, I have no idea how I missed this exceptionally well-crafted offering last evening, but I'm glad I did as now I have six stars to affix on your presentation!
What a lovely, heartfelt, faith-redeeming offering.
Your words resonate on a number of levels with me, but your first stanza is my favorite:
I traveled paths of mystery
o'er glens and dales toward the sea.
Through darkened shadows of the wood,
I journeyed on as best I could.
I journey; I stumble, but I continue on ...
Thank you for sharing!
