Dean, my first six of the week. This was some deep and magical poem. The music and the pictures took us on this journey of woe. He waits for a soul. Will it be the young girl who contemplates taking her own life, who will it be. Life certainly is too precious to throw it away. There are so many out there who may disagree. The authors notes told a story, a mythological story of the Charon who waits for anyone who thinks life is not worth living. Excellent poem. Amazing piece of work. Loved it. Genya

Extremely powerful poem. Very well written, grwat rythym and flow. You are absolutely right, we should never be afraid to speak to our loved ones when we feel things are not right. Rather take the plunge than live in regret. Very deep thiught provoking. Well done

Hey Dean...don't be paying the ferry man until he gets ya across...
This hits home for me...I just lost two wonderful people on the same day...half hour a part...in different countries...
I am on the Site to just feel a little different for a moment. I have stories I should post, I have reviews to read to make the money to so so..and yet..does it all really matter?...
I know death is part of life. I am a Buddhist, we look death in the eye, but I am still sad. Death this side of enlightenment seems so final..though rebirth is my belief. I am here and they are not...sigh...

Wow, Dean! You've done it again--and consistently so. Loved this. A dynamic poem with excellent rhyming and message. Good flow. Interesting throughout. Author's note is equally important for parents to be aware of their children's behavior. Pleasant Screams...heh-heh-heh--right back 'atcha'.

You are a very good story teller using poetic devices and language. this is an excellent over all piece of poetic art. Even the pictures chimed in well here. The entire presentation was well thought out and delivered. The is a six star piece of writing all the way... John

Dean: O.K., this made me scream and they were not pleasant! The total experience of these words, music and pictures certainly brings to mind those who have committed suicide. "Committed suicide" . . . that old phrase sounds like you have jay-walked or stole an apple off the corner vendor. But, so much more involved. I have been at that preface twice that I recall. It is almost as if you no longer have control of your life and something else is making the decision for you. This is a brilliant piece. Linda

It could be a soldier -- a family's lone son;
yet perhaps, he'll embrace you alone.
Whomever he chooses, when all's said and done,
his icy grip, they'll feel deep in their bones.
another of your remarkable poems, Dean - most impressive. -
the rhythm and rhyme flowing perfectly and the pictures fit
exactly.
We all need to listen to our children no matter what their age, including friends or a member of the family who are in need of help - so many parents are busy with work and their own life that they often miss the signs that their loved-one is in trouble and needs loving support.

That's very true,Margaret, and many people get extremely down, especially during the holidays. At a time when we should all be sharing love with family, friends and loved ones, they feel at their lowest because they have no one to share theirs with any longer.
As always, I truly appreciate your support, and sincerely thank you for your insight and kind thoughtful comments.
Have a happy holidays, and a very merry Christmas. :}

as always, effective presentation of your poem
solid use of abab rhyming including proximate rhymes
good alliteration in phrases like fleshless face and soon a statistic
vivid and mood-creating descriptive detail, like in fleshless face :-)
compelling illustrative examples of those whom death might choose next with his icy grip

Wonderful poem, yet again. It has a subtle tone to it that rings less of horror and more of warning. Your rhymes were great, with an internal thrown in for good measure. The rhythm was also great and flowed quite well. I'm just not sure about the last two lines. I'm not sure they're needed. Just my opinion.
Wonderful, creepy mood, great subject, great poem once again.
