Profound poetry that again reiterates that each day is a new slate waiting for whatever we decide to write upon it. A whole year of "new days" should never be looked at lightly or without some thought. You have given us reason to consider that. Lovely.

Hi Mrs. KT....this is a well written poem with a vital message. Sometimes it is hard not to look back and also difficult to imagine what lies ahead. I think one day at a time is good advice but sometimes it still gives us pause.. You have written a pithy ending that is so true. We all need to pray for guidance as we go about our uncharted way...blessings....chey

When you wrote this you must have been thinking of me. Crazy because I don't even know you, ha ha. I am looking forward to the new year and all the freshness that it has to offer. Too bad we can't truly just forget the past and start new. I really liked how your kept coming back to the three things of words, paths, and hopes.

This poem works great for the first week of January. There's always that grandiose sense that we will accomplish great things and finally conquer our demons. Then the second week of January comes and we're back to the drawing board - half our relolutions already broken.

I gave this a six because it hit me just the right was this year, I had an awful 2007 and this makes me believe that I can leave that all behind me and move on, thanks you for sharing it with me.

Sounds like someone broke one resolution too many, and had a few hopes dashed. I do wish you a wonderful new year, the one that fulfills all promises.
And I loved your poem.

I really like the poem...It is very straightforward and simple and yet captures the interest through its rhythm. Nice word choice and well done!

I like the style of this poem. You presented both the past, with its bad memories, and the future, with its promises. We must all learn to forgive others as well as ourselves for the mistakes of last year and turn our backs on those mistakes. Nicely written.
