Fair tribute to your father
Well the poet says
The truth that we hold
A newer lasting mold
For now there is not distance
That comes to play in life
All the memories come
They hold close their sway
Give thanks to God above
The blessing had been sent
To swiftly take him from this life
Before the cancer made complete it's mark

All, apologies for the copy-and-paste reply. It's only because I've had so many beautiful, wonderful, touching replies to my poem and I have so very much to get done in the wake of my Dad's passing.
You've helped me more than you can know and I'll be thinking about your encouraging comments when I read my poem aloud on Wednesday.
Your words mean more than I can say, and I thank you deeply.

Hi Fleedleflump - this is very lovely and very moving. Perfect reassuring words for your Mother to hear as you are reading it at the funeral - why not speak directly to your Dad in your last two stanzas -
For Dad, I'll always smile -
your humour was a charm,
of silly rhymes and funny faces
chaotic and calm
For you this is an ending
for us, that opening note,
And for you Dad, this little rhyme -
to think, and to emote.
Just a thought, hope you don't mind - but he may just be listening and joining in. I am so sorry for your loss, your Dad was not very old - very sad. Warm wishes - Dorothy x

First of all I am so sorry to hear about the death of your Dad. A sudden death is great for him, but not for his loved ones. This is a lovely poem you have written for him. I am sure you mum will love it. I still miss my Dad who passed away six years ago. I wish you the best.

Oh I'm so sorry! You bright back the memories of my own dad, now long gone. He was only 59 and my memories are still so sharp and clear. The simplicity of this verse was part of its beauty, and the easy rhythm ... lends itself to being read aloud.
Blessings, my dear.

taking so you in the prime of ones life is heartbreaking so much so that it is with me everyday seems like my family and friends will not be around for me when it is my time to go. They have always said they take the good one first to pave the way for the rest of us

Hi, Mike....
- So sorry for your loss.
- It's devastating to lose our folks---more so when it happens suddenly. My mother passed that way too.
- This is a beautiful dedication to your father.

Michael,
I know that you are not worried about stars, but I do wish I had a six. It is not onlybecause of the beautiful and moving sentiment, it is because it is delivered in perfection. Your Dad would be so proud of you.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Obviously, your Dad must have been a beautiful person and a loving heart. His Son clearly demonstrates his legacy. Should all Fathers and Sons have such a blessing.
Please do take care and again my deepest sympathy. Your work is the pinnacle of beauty and honor.

A very tender and caring poem that is a wonderful dedication to your father. I am sorry that you have lost him as a pretty young age. You have a wonderful perspective of the meaning of a memory. This is a simpler styled poem than some of the others of yours I have read, and it is beautifully done. Thank you for sharing this experience with your writing friends,
