Wow, this is VERY, very good...the cryptic poem in combination with the artwork/photography make for a winner in every regard! Your creativity level is obvious here Dean, and bravo for making the most of it as evidenced in this wonderfully written, dark piece of poetry!

Thanks for sharing, take care and happy writing going forward!

Wonderful word choices, Dark Dean, and superb presentation as you hold the reader's trembling hand in a daring attempt to remove the mask and shriek in horror at what's behind it - a soul-less fiery hell nightmare will devour our very essence, digesting what we thought was our immortal soul. Black is black, all fades to black ... until

Love the festive music as I stuff my Santa bag full of children's souls. This is a deliciously dark and disturbing set of visions - and thought-provoking, so it is I who hides behind the mask. Now, I'm worried - better not remove it, just yet.

Outstanding piece in your favorite genre - warm and fuzzy romance ... ;)

Haven't had contact with people lacking souls. Even dear sweet Hannibal Lecter had a soul, and bizarre sense of humor. If I happen to meet someone without a soul, I will refer them to you for an interview, if they promise to leave your soul intact.

Well done ... ;o) Art

Powerful! I love the smooth flow of this... and I loved the final two lines!

My thoughts on that concept... First, I don't believe in vampires of any nature. I see that as a Romanian legend that occasional movies and books fan to popularity in modern culture.

These people you describe, do have a soul... it's just buried deep under Satan's wishes and wants for that person. Jehovah God put an immortal soul into Adam and Eve, and every human born since has this soul.

It's actually a very good description of the unregenerate soul--the one that has yet to come to a personal encounter with Christ. I know many like this too... I pray for them.

I certainly have met people without empathy. They are not nice. I will join you in killing them off. Excellent picture and poem.

What a great poem title.
This poem definitely reeks of a monster with no soul, and once you apply your mastery, a very dark tale indeed unfolds.
Thankfully I haven't really met someone/thing quite this dark though I have read reports of the dastardly deeds done by them.

Good complimentary photo that grabs my attention from the start. Good use of the aabb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good internal rhyme with never/ever. Good alliteration with huge/hole...black/back. Good, clear thought provoking message that holds my attention from start to finish.

This is really well written and intensely dark. I'm glad you expanded with your notes as your intentions may be totally misunderstood. I think the misplaced gene thing has some veracity but I've met too many who's inability to connect is down to nurture, or lack thereof.

Love it. The artwork is also phenomenal. I seem to enjoy tortured works of poetry the most. To answer the question you posed, I haven't really met anyone that fits the description you have given.

This resonated with me on a different level. My interpretation was not of a human shaped monster but of someone with a drug addiction, especially in the lines: Begging won't do you any good/I'll destroy you as you knew I would - In your nightmares it's me you will see - Once you've succumbed to my attack
