No don't get me wrong, I did read your poem and wasn't too bad, but reading your notes and your surprising humor is where this 6 stars comes in. You are one funny sick guy. Love ya. You brought me a great laughter this afternoon.

Dean, your penchant for the macabre is all over this write. I have an odd take on "ghosts". I don't believe they exist, but rather what is mistaken as ghosts are disembodied demons who are half human and half spirit.(Gen.6 and Jude 1) When the human host dies, the eternal spirit half must seek another living host. Jesus permitted them to go into the pigs. Crafted well for the desired effect. :0 GracieAnn

Awesome, Dean! You told a complete story here with just a few lines! The images of the darkness, the scowling citizens, and the artwork all made for a chilling read! And the author's notes!!! Splendidly spooky!

Hey, thanks a bunch, cephira! I sincerely appreciate that kind and generous review.
I wish fans of my poetry had as much passion for my prose. Currently, in the Story of the Month contest going on now, my short story, 'Right Down the Drain" is getting slaughtered in the voting. Oh well, I always have my poetry, LOL...

I completely understand!!! I get more 6ers on my poetry than my novel even though I spend waaaay more time and effort on the novel. Weird. I think it's mostly due to the fact that most reviewers want a quick read to earn the $...I can them cent whores. Bad, I know. Just know I feel your pain! Best of luck & I'll check out your story now that I'm back in FS land. :-)

Meant - I *call* them cent whores. Lol. Ok..I need some zzzz.

My Dad would always say he would like to see me win( he was the kind of dad) that wanted me to be a winner.)
If you don't win just kick your own butt and kid ( I know you try your best)

This is a wonderful poem. You communicate your theme well. You create a creepy tone. The word choice is strong. I enjoyed the notes.

Thanks for the author notes with the history listen. I love learning new things. I just love that awesome art image of the Raven: half bird, half skeleton. And I loved the well written warning of the poem.

Spooky! The sound effects really helped carry this one. And reading the Author Notes helps set it up, too... I'm a firm believer in the spiritual realm being all around us, and occasionally interacting with us. The Frank Peretti book, "This Present Darkness" displays this concept so well, really clears up misconceptions about the spirit realm, in a Christian viewpoint.

Hi Dean Kuch
It's odd, in my view at least, that the US seems to hasve more apparitions, ghosts and 'otherworldly' beings around than places like Europe which has a much longer and bloodier history in some parts.
Interesting bit of history mixed into the poem. Those old mining towns were pretty rough places.

We got more apparitions, spirits and spooks here than Hitler had liver pills, my friend!
Thanks for the review.

An interesting poem with a nice picture. It rhymes and flows quite well. in the third stanza, you say Raven Fare's folks, but your title says Raven's Fare, so you need to be consistent. When you say devil, it should likely be Devil as I believe that you are referring to the Biblical Devil. Otherwise, it is quite good. Thanks for sharing, Brent

Hi Dean,
To quote the cowardly lion from The Wizard of Oz "I do believe in ghosts, I do, I do." Here's my question for you. Have you come across any interesting explanations as to why some areas are more haunted than others? People die all the time, many tragically and unexpectedly - so what attracts souls to linger in certain places?
Hugs,
Lou

Some places are just inherently evil, I think. Other places are spiritually significant, such as Indian burial grounds. The reasons for the hauntings are as varied as the spirits that haunt them.
Thanks for the great review and feed back, Lou. I really appreciate it!
