Oh no! Is this true? Huntington's is a terrible disease and I hope your husband gets only a mild case. Hope you get a second opinion as it could be something else. Hugs and prayers. Thank you for sharing and researching. Best wishes in the contest!

It sounds similar to Parkinson's disease, which my brother-in-law died from. It is a most unpleasant disease to have or watch a loved one suffer who has it. Nicely written. I wish you the best in the contest.

I'm sorry to hear that this is a "true story" for you; getting such a diagnosis is never easy, and I wish you the best going forward with this disease in your family.

As far as the contest, I'd like to suggest a change at the beginning - one sentence seems long and to stumble a little. Here's another alternative:

You search the Internet for information on symptoms and treatments. Are there things the caregiver can do to help the patient live a better life.

Just a suggestion. I do wish you luck in this situation and with the contest.

Pam

Ouch. Life May give one lemons but making lemonade does not come easy if all you get are greenies. Sorry to hear of such travails. Faith will provide relief we hope.

How awful this is Mary as the sufferer tries to get his affairs in order before the disease progresses any further. My biggest fear is to suffer any kind of dementia in old age, a poignant write Mary, love Dolly x

Excellent entry for the Non-Fiction Writing Contest.

I like the topic you chose. It's helpful and connects with the reader at an emotional level. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Check this.....

"You then do all your research by searching the Internet." This sentence sounds odd.

Maybe something like this....

You then do everything you can by searching the internet for resources.

I'm not sure who has this malevolent malady Mary, but if you need prayer, or someone you know needs prayer, let me know. It sounds absolutely awful, not only for the victim of this awful disease, but for those, I think it's decidedly inherited, that particularly male children will be prone, and they wait, unsure. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

We could use some prayers. This is my husband Harvey. I found out about this last Thursday, and right now I am still sorting through the news.
Thank you for your prayers and kindness.

This short piece of non-fiction was heartbreaking. You formatted it well, and your coping with the news was very upsetting. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you in the contest.

I am so sorry for you. It is unbearable when your significant other is diagnosed with such a debilitating disease. You wrote very effectively all the initial reactions. Very convincing post, kay

I know the feeling of hearing the diagnosis and searching the internet of hope of some kind. It is something too many of us eventually face whether the diagnosis is our own or that of love one. Is this recent, or something that happened in the past? If recent you have my prayers and sympathy. Either way the news had to be devastation. Excellent non fiction.
