I related to all of this so that is a look into an equal past. I personally have never read a rhyme like this, at least I don't think I have. What format is it called? Interesting. Again, we'll done with the story and good luck in the contest.

I think this is a good entry for the Childhood writing prompt.
You tell us of the childhood I remember before computer games.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.

Sharon, thank you!

Most of the fun things and activities of which you write, including the las one, came along when I was too old to indulge in them, my loss, I'm sure. But I certainly do relate to the nostalgia of similar experiences of my own childhood.
Good luck in the "Childhood" contest!

Thanks for this walk down memory lane. As a child, I played all of these games. They were much better than Atari or Nintendo. Most involved going outside and getting exercise.

Oh wow, things were definitely different back then. I don't think this period of society could reside back into things like that though, unfortunately. We would be lost without our technology now!

I would say that there could be new discoveries in stepping into the past. Just as I find using a new app or jumping into the latest Iphone. LOL

Those were the days my friend! We didn't have all of this technology that stifles almost all personal communication. Facetime now is done on a phone instead of face to face. I love the message of this and enjoyed reading this back down memory lane work you've penned here. Well done!

Jeffrey, I do thank you always, a kindred spirit like you are would, of course, know the challenge technology brings about for our youth.

Hello, I hope this review finds you well. Thank you for sharing your flash fiction with us. To tell a story in so few words is a challenge that I think you executed well, it brings back memories. Good job!

My dear friend thank you, I hope you are going to jump off tomorrow and begin a great weekend!

Your poem is a wonderful recapturing of imaginative playtimes in childhood, when 'made-up' fun provided hours of cheap entertainment, usually in the company of others for bonding social interaction. These days it's all 'i'-this and 'x'-that and dark rooms and murderous gaming in brooding disconnection. Your poem deserves to do well.

LisaMay, thank you. I try and try again to engage pour grandchildren in the world out of doors --even if can get them to take a hike just so their heads might clear up and see something real, alive and tangible in the eyes.

I don't have kids myself but i spend a few hours each saturday with a 12 yr old boy - sometimes he refuses to get out of the car when I drive somewhere then expect to go for a walk! He says his 'happy place' is in the dark in his bedroom gaming with people he doesn't know. That to me is seriously weird and an addiction. (But then, maybe Fanstory is my addiction, talking to strangers, using a computer at all hours... it's all relative, isn't it!)

Those were the carefree days that today's kids don't seem to enjoy as they are connected to technology! I enjoyed the romp through your childhood here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
