How funny! I promise you I didn't expect the bologna sandwiches and Kool-Aid at the end. I truly believed this was real war.
Thanks so much for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Thank you my friend. As you know I am fighting Multiple Myeloma which is bone cancer. Praise God he has allowed the medicine to work and I feel good. My infusions and doctors are in a mix upright now so please pray that things will get worked out soon if it be Gods will. Bless you always Sally. You are a very good writer and I truly do enjoy reading your stories. God bless and keep you and family always.

Oh oh. I counted only 65 words and it must be exactly 75 words.
Make that edit before the contest closes. Complimentary artwork.

The FanStory word processor on the edit feature says 75 words which is where the criteria is held. That?s the only one that matters.
Thanks for your review.

Lance, I contacted Tom at FanStory and you were right. The Basic Editor count is not accurate and they now recommend the word processors on my computer. I type from an IPad Pro with voice activation text since I am blind. If you hadn?t said anything, I wouldn?t have known. Thank you. I added a sentence to make it exactly 75. Sal :+)

I?m glad you got it corrected in time!

Me, too! Thanks again.

This was a good read, Sal. I could definitely relate to this one. Thankfully, though, I was the oldest and therefore a general, so I sent my younger brothers off to retrieve supplies. Thanks for the flashback.

Lucky you. My two older brothers struggled with who was the leader of the pack, but I was definitely the nurse and ?gopher.? ?Go for this and go for that, Sal.? Thank you so much, General, for your excellent review and insightful comments. They are greatly appreciated. Always my best to you, Sally ;+)

This is really good. You have made excellent use of the terms of war.
Finding out it was a game that ended with Kool-Aid and bologna sandwiches made me smile.

Ah, I think the ones that like this the most are my readers who remember playing war in the neighborhood and enjoying simple pleasures and iconic food. I am pleased you enjoyed my contest entry.

Such a fun story! The twist at the end is perfect. Can't say that I ever played war as a kid, but you make it sound like fun! I enjoyed this from start to finish. Very well done!

Thank you so much, dear Carla. I appreciate the thoughtful and kind review of my work. The short pieces Are a bit tricky because you have to communicate so much within a few words. I enjoyed it though as my eyesight is in decline and these shorter flash fiction contest are easier on me. Always my best to you and yours,
Sally xo

Hi Sally, I am out of sixes otherwise I would certainly give this a six.
I firstly started to wonder if you were in the war at some point of your life, then hoopla! The twist!
You got me...you got me really good!
