I'm not accustomed to reading this genre, but it's well written and the dialogue is superb. You do a good job creating the accent. You also create good descriptions, this one in particular stood out:
"His stiff, upright posture, the rigid thrust of his chin, to the fire in his eyes and the clenching and unclenching of his hands indicated his intense fury."
I had trouble with the following sentence: "The slow spread of bright red blood coming from the back of her head had me screaming hysterically at her inert body." It read to me as though she was screaming at the blood but also her inert body. Maybe a period after "hysterically" and put the inert body in a different context.
I'd like to know if you self-published. I have written a romantic novella and am considering putting it on Amazon.

Wow, Sandra that was indeed a surprise ending. At least Mildred now knows what she has to do, but then again will she be able to do so? There was lots of activity from the beginning to the end of this chapter. Jowell now realizes that he let things go on too far before he stepped in and he is aware that the others are disgruntled and angry at his actions. This was very well done my friend, very enjoyable. Thank goodness, Mildred is all right! That was tense time. Jowell certainly got a lot of flack from his fellow Powers. If the others hadn't stepped in and brought him up short, no telling what tragedy might have happened.

Do not ask me how, but I totally missed the last chapter. Not to worry, I went back and read it before reading this one. Along with Veronica, I'm disappointed with "the powers" as well. Glad Mildred's okay. It sure isn't easy for Veronica to function as a ghost is it? LOL

No, she needs Mildred, and it would be better if she could be more active, but I think she needs to be the way she is for when she goes back next time. A fascinating chapter. Interesting tension between the powers-that-be. I'm reminded of the petty squabbles between the gods on Mt Olympus! Great to see Mildred back to her usual self. That'll take a bit of explaining to Tommy when she returns!

I'll help her with the powers, putting the poor ladies through what they did. Better yet, we can put then in a life or death situations, see how they like it.
