I think all of us either know someone like that grandma in the garden or is one herself. Love all the beautiful way you described the actions. My favorite ones were:
"Thin fingers rake through leafy loam
to sift rebirth from winterkill. "

"Grandma in her Garden", is an exceptionally well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. This talented poet so rightly and wisely points out, that to be at one with nature is sheer bliss. Among the soil, plants and weeds, is to be among God's most precious gifts. To me, this is certainly a six.

Hi Rod, very nice imagery and abab rhyme. Great use of alliteration. Working in the garden is therapeutic for many people. I always enjoyed working in the garden with my grandparents.

The picture could not be more perfect and adorning. Many grandmothers, look like this in the spring. Oh what they teach us. Your poem reflects this in a very beautiful way. Your choice of words and the subtle rhyming. Very nicely written. Sherman541

So beautifully penned! Every verse is written precisely on meter and rhyme...and I went back and read each one individually and then together again...your image embellishes the already stellar work of your poem Your wordsmithing is head and shoulders above most (including, especially-mine!)---and I am left with a warm and satisfying feeling upon conclusion.

Well done there are many types of grandmas and gardens. Gardens car represent nearly everything. And so many ways for people to nurture. Very nice work indeed!

Hey there Rod
I am G.B. Smith (Bear)
I love this poem. It reminds me so much of my mother and how she loved that dark mountain soil daddy faithfully brought home in gunny sacks, we didn't have a treuck. He was gone then and she would work that soil for her garden. Thanks for the lovely memories
