A memory is potent, the first note of a score- excellent. When we come to the end of a story or novel, we close the book and come back to favorite passages, scenes. Similarly with life, the memories that build and inform us. This whole poem is your opening note. I am sorry to hear about your dad. You have lifted him up. Beautiful poem.

All, apologies for the copy-and-paste reply. It's only because I've had so many beautiful, wonderful, touching replies to my poem and I have so very much to get done in the wake of my Dad's passing.
You've helped me more than you can know and I'll be thinking about your encouraging comments when I read my poem aloud on Wednesday.
Your words mean more than I can say, and I thank you deeply.

This is a lovely memorial poem for your father. From his picture, he appears to be a lighthearted, man. Sorry for your loss but glad for your memories.

It may be simple in it's form, but it is a wonderful poem with enduring insights. Hopefully we all have a new beginning to look forward to in the end. This is a wonderful poem filled with such hopeful thoughts and fond memories that we all can relate to. And I'm sorry to hear of your lose.

Please accept my heart-felt sympathy with the loss of your father, Mike.
Your poem goes beyond the words to the emotion and feelings in your heart. Losing a parent brings to mind memories and you share some in your poem. Best wishes to you as you read your poem at the service. The emotion of a son to his Dad will touch all those there.

Thank you especially, Karyn - you've helped me with my confidence!

I appreciate the simplicity of this poem - mainly because it is the style I use in my writing. One can feel the emotion without having to figure out the meaning of a word. My father died 7 years ago, and there is still some pain in my memories, but for him it was not the end. He is at home with the Lord.

For Dad, I'll always smile -
his humour was a charm,
of silly rhymes and funny faces,
chaotic and calm.
Even when expecting, we are never prepared to lose a loved-one and it leaves us devastated. Your poem is
a lovely tribute to your beloved father. As long as
you have memories that love lives on

Poems and memories sometimes touch the past and sometimes hug it.
Sometimes simpler is better, more meaningful and heartfelt, like "silly rhymes" and "charm".
I think you'll find it more accessible and closer to the heart of truth.
Beautifully written on a soft sky blue background with "love and laughs" as a font surrounding the wonderful photograph.
Excellent tribute. Best wishes at the reading.

Sorry to hear of your loss. This is a beautiful tribute to your father. I liked the positive message that endings are beginnings, and also the time to stop and reflect on our experiences. I'm sure the poem will be appreciated by all who hear it.
