good luck in the contest
your words allow the reader to see and feel the insecure and finding courage to walk away and find peace in life
good imagery to portray story
good rhyme through out not forced
good use of "P" "T" "L" consonance
good use of "I" "E" "O" assonance
flows well
easy to understand
cheers Smoothiecool

G'day Carolyn. That is a beautiful piece on a tragic topic. It's a great contest entry and I wish you luck. You just reminded me I have a reservation in that, but I'm afraid now after reading this great piece. Cheers Fez

Thanks Fez,
Don't hold back, enter. Someone has to win and it would be neat if it was me, but it would be just as wonderful if it was you my friend.
Thanks for the wonderful comments and good luck wishes..
:-) Carolyn

January 2003, our best friends son committed suicide. My son and he were like brothers. He was 21. I still dont understand.
Our friends that same year took their vacations; Australia, Europe cruise and St. Thomas. I couldn't understand that even more.
Sad. Your poem hits home. John

Thanks John for sharing this story and the total understanding of the poem. When I saw the picture, the words flowed quickly. So sorry for your friends, I am with you, it would be difficult to move on that fast.
Love, Carolyn

Yes it takes courage to face up things to suicide, life is worthwhile if you let it be so, I know it's really hard for some, and they see no other way, but great advice, I had a friend lost to suicide, I still miss him today, I was 20 he was 19. Well done, lovely poem, Carolyn, I enjoyed it, may blessings, dear Carolyn, Roy.

Thanks Roy, yes it takes more courage to live than it does to take your life. Anyone who has lost friend or family to suicide will never forget that person, what a waste.

I was thinking about the very same thing and posted a story about the very subject a few minutes ago. Life becomes so unbearable for so many young and not so young. My God Mother committed suicide in March 1977 when I was only a teen. To this date, I still ask why?
Thanks for sharing. Excellent job.

Thanks so much V
I have never been able to figure out why. It takes more courage to live than it does to die.
I am sorry about your dear friend.
Love, Carolyn

Courage is perception is somewhat off the wall for me. I guess you can mean that to have courage implies perception but it is not quite meaningful ... oh well, i ofter cannot see a poets intended meaning so do not worry about it ... as if you would.

Smiles, I don't worry about it but I always, without exception, find merit in your comments. Thanks for taking the time to R/R.
I appreciate all you have said.
