This is a very well written story about an event that happened in your youth. I enjoyed listening to it very much. It is amazing that 11 years of age you were able to maneuver those children and bring them safely back home. May God bless you and may you have a wonderful day. Patricia.

Thank you Patricia! It was one of my more foolish adventures. I was just glad to get us all home in one piece! Thanks for a great review - I am glad you enjoyed the story.

With power comes great responsibility. You learned the hard way. I remember taking my nephew who was only 6 years younger than me, off on an adventure. We had to get a kind stranger to give us a ride home. My mother's preferred weapon was the handy, dandy flyswatter. Lol. I felt your fear in this. Great story. Gretchen

I must have experienced great fear because sixty years later I can still picture it all so clearly. We had three levels of punishment according to the severity of the crime: a hard smack, the ruler, and the strap! Lol. Just as well the stranger who gave you a ride home was a kind one. Thank you so much for this excellent review, and also for that extra special star at the end!! Much appreciated.

I'm not kidding: every hair on my arms and the back of my neck is standing at attention after reading this!!! WOWIE ZOWIE!!! UNBELIEVABLE...though I know every word of it is true!! It I confirms what I've always thought: It's A MIRACLE that children live!

Congratulations on the incredible job you did with your sisters that day!! You are da BOSSSSSSS!!! No question about it. I do, though, think it's time to let your mother in on the story. I mean, come on, everyone here on your favorite writing site knows about her children; shouldn't she?? It's not like she can spank you anymore! She might even have a harrowing story to share about something SHE did in her younger days! xoxox

Lol. Yes, it probably is a miracle that children live, especially if my "leadership" is anything to go by! It's still very vivid in my mind - I can still see it all clearly! My mother is quite forgetful now, but I must ask my sisters if they remember. I don't remember being a bossy big sister all the time though - but then again, perhaps I should ask my sisters! Lol. Thank you so much for reviewing and for that beautiful extra star. It's always very prized and special.

Oh Wendy, you did a fantastic job, both in saving your sisters and yourself, and in recounting the story for us. We all lack judgment in our reckless youth (and beyond). Angels were with all of you on the rocks that day.

I have a feeling that your mother knew something had happened. Not from the scratches but from your demeanor. And, of course from your subsequent change of behaviour.

Your writing is vivid enough to transport readers to that scramble up the promontory, making our hearts race with anxiety.

Blessings, Julia

Yes, looking back, I am sure we were being protected (from the results of my foolishness). Perhaps my mother was aware .... I must ask my sisters if they remember this - it's still as clear as a bell in my own memory. Lol. Thanks so much for your wonderful comments, so very encouraging - and special thanks for that extra star! Much appreciated.

I'm not sure if she knew. She was probably glad of the peace and quiet! Thanks, Tom, for this super review. Always glad to have your reviews.

Oh how frightening! You had no idea what consequences your decision would have, but when the chips were down, you fought like a lion to keep your sisters safe. How brave! sure you were worried about getting into trouble, but you also had that fierce bond to make sure everyone not only had a wonderful day at the beach, but a fantastic day getting home.
smiles, Carol

I probably was more foolish than brave. I remember feeling really scared at what I'd done. I don't really remember being bossy (I should check what my sisters think!) but I do clearly remember that day. Thank you so much for your gift of six stars! Greatly valued and a delight to receive.

Excellent writing. You painted the picture(s) very well and maintained the excitement level throughout. Great work.
It sounds like a pure wonder that you weren't ratted out. The others must have been in awe of you.

Thank you very much Wayne. Lovely comments, and I also appreciate the extra star. I don't remember myself as a "bossy boots" (perhaps I should check with my sisters!) but I still clearly remember this day. Again, many thaks for the six stars.

I think a couple of my friends Mums were a little like that, for some reason they were very fastidious, and I think to the point of plastic on the lounge suite, fortunately my mum was not like that. Our care surrounded our girls not the possessions, beautifully written Wendy, blessings Roy

That was characteristic of my mother's generation, and times have changed considerably since then. Thanks for reviewing.

Well you were the bossy older sister. You ae lucky that not one of the others blurted it all out. There is often one that will break ranks. Nice story Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Great story. So frightening! I've heard about places where the tide does that and you really were being watched by angels that day. Thanks for sharing.
