This is a great tribute to the teacher who made you what you are today. Through teachers like her we can be sure that the offering of learning will be perpetrated. The question is, will the offer continue to be taken up in today's unstable social climate? The answer to this worries me. Kate xx

Their magic may not land with as many kids together, Kate, but as long as it lands with some, we'll be okay in the long run.

I absolutely love your story and I'm amazed at how closely it follows my own. When I was 11 years old, my family moved from Chicago ill to duluth Minnesota. I was a painfully shy girl who had trouble making friends and it was a culture shock to go from Chicago's south side to the tree filled, lake superior town that was relatively small in comparison. I was adrift and unhappy, until I met my 6th grade teacher Mr.Placheki who taught math. He was incredibly kind to me and was the only teacher I truly loved in all of my years of school. He made me feel like I could do anything, including learning math, my worst subject. He truly changed my life for the better. I didn't share the closeness to him that you did with your teacher, but for that one year of 6th grade, I was in heaven. I read in the paper last year that he passed away. I still think about him and have done all of my life. Thank you for this fantastic story and for bringing back these memories for me. :)

I'm sitting here with tears going down my cheeks after reading this beautiful tribute of yours. One teacher honestly can make SUCH a difference FOREVER! It's why it's SUCH an important calling.
Thanks for this touching review, and, of course, the extra star. xo

Wow! I love your background with dance and voice, etc. It's amazing what an impact teachers can have on a student! Sorry for your loss of the beloved person in your life. Add to your resume that you have a way with words--you are a gifted storyteller.

In my opinion, as you know , a great teacher makes a huge difference.
I had to wait until I was 17, but they came along at the right time.
Your writing is passionate , sincere, and honest. The way wtiting should be.

I'm writing this from my front yard because, thanks to you, my head no longer fits inside my house.
Thank you for this REALLY nice review. I couldn't appreciate it more. xo
