'Tis not the Bard, but pretty good poetry anyway

Very well done. I know I like the messages in poems
better than worrying about rhythm and perfection.
I like that message. Keep trusting God to take care
of us. Good luck in the contest.

Carolyn;
-according to your office notes you are right that this is not a perfect poem, but it sure sends a message that is clear, distinct and readily understandable. A beautiful message that shows how faith in oneself and in the Lord can bring forth bounty of graces galore.
-Good use of enjambment
-excellent rhyming where each rhyming word was contingent to the meaning and concept of each line, making the rhythm flows smoothly.
-Good cadence, timing and tempo make the reading flow smoothly, clearly and easily.
-The imagery is grand and clear and exquisitely expressive and vividly descriptive.
-A great job Carolyn and thank you so much for sharing and posting this poem and may the look good Lord be with you always.
-Good luck in the contest for this is an excellent piece of writing.

This is a beautiful poem that the author has created with this piece of work. This reminds me of the Old Man of the Sea. He thought his greatest days were done when he got his finest catch.

Notesandmore, you have more than achieved your goal here! I just gave away my last 6, but I kind of wish I had saved one for this poem. Not only is it a beautiful and important message, but it's perfectly and lyrically told. I commend you, and wish you the best in this contest.

Hi there,

I think this needs to be re-classified into the poetry category - it is entered in a poetry contest after all.

I think you are right to a certain degree about being more concerned about the message in a faith piece than the form but many others are not as forgiving or understanding.

All the best
GMG

Thanks dear Linda, I am so glad to have a little bit of inspiration. Haven't written much lately. Good to see you too. Wish our FS family would get a bit healthier. Have you heard from Marlene, and I know Brooke is ill.

I was a little confused when it said fiction and ended up being a poem. Not sure if you meant to do that or if it was accidental.
As for the poem, this was a wonderful story told of the fisherman's life. How faith had gotten him through this far and faith would see him through to the end.
I found it apt that the net tore and needed mending just as he was tired and wore out.
A wonderful story told as a poem, with great rhyme and rhythm. The picture even matched perfectly the mood of the poem.

Carolyn, These quatrains are narrative lines of fine art. I thought about the disciples casting their nets on the other side. then I began to see the expanded meaning that perhaps this was one of the disciples later on in his life looking back on his experiences and applying that extra measure of faith Jesus had so inspired within them.
