Gee you're really good at these, the rest don't stand a chance, really! The format is fabulous, if you ignore the theme, the wording and rhyme are fabulous, the second stanza is really hard to read, you might have watch that, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy.

    Thanks, Roy, I appreciate that. Gee, that's the first I've heard from anyone that the second stanza is hard to read. I'll have to look into that (no pun intended).

    Thanks again, and blessings ! :}

    Check it again when you get a chance, Roy, and see if you can see it any better now. Please let me know, and thanks for calling my attention to it.

    Thanks, Fez, I'm very happy that you liked it, mate. As far as being a winner goes, well...people have to vote first, and that ain't happening, if you know what I mean. Thanks for your encouraging and complimentary comments. They are appreciated. :}

As always, your writting is excellent. I like the colors and creativity you bring to the contest. As always, you deserve the awards and inspire me to write with deeper dimensions (when I'm not traveling). As always, wow, amazing, a winner!

    Thanks so much for your complimentary and encouraging comments, Nancy. As far as it being a winner, well...not so much, it seems. It's doing so-so in the votes right now. But you enjoyed it, at least.

    Thanks again! :}

    Faerie is the less traditional, mythological spelling of the word, "fairies" Annie. Here's the link from dictionary.com, and the definition I have provided for you below it:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/%20faeries%20?s=t

    faerie

    [fey-uh-ree, fair-ee]

    noun

    1.the imaginary land of the fairies; fairyland.
    2.Archaic. a fairy.

    adjective

    3.fairy.
    Also, faery.

    Thanks so much for the encouraging review! :}

I can not read your poem. All I see is a bunch of pictures. I would like to vote, but your poem is preventing me from doing that. I need to be fair and would like to read all the entries, before voting.

    Go to FanStory classic and read it there. I hate the upgraded site, it does this to me all of the time!

    Thank you.

    No worries. :)

    I read your poem and upgraded the stars. I also have to thank you for showing me Fanstory classic, I never liked the new format either.
reply by the author on 22-Jan-2015
    You are very welcome. There are so-o-o very many bugs still to be worked out on the upgraded site that I prefer to stay with the old version. Anytime I italicize or embolden font, the new site omits it, for some reason. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Truly a creative take on this contest. Great cadence and the rhyming is excellent. Preference is stanza 1, but I wouldn't throw out stanza 2 with the bathwater. Much luck in the contest. AT=/

    Thanks, Jean. I always took you for a first stanza kinda girl, and I'm really happy to hear it. Sure, there's some (very little) good to be said for that the stuff in that "other" stanza, but like so many often tell me quite frankly, "It ain't exactly my cuppa' tea" :}

First of all--your word choices and rhymes are superb in both stanzas. Your question is interesting--as to which style and content each reader prefers. In my case--I like a little of this and a little of that. Not too syrupy and not too way out there. What I like best about your work is consistent nice, tight, descriptive writing. Good job.

    Thank you, Marilyn, and that's very kind of you to say.I do always try to think outside the proverbial "box" quite often, but try not to get too wild. The main thing I always strive for is entertaining and enlightening people. Whether I'm always successful or not is not due to a lack of effort.

    Thank you very much for your glowing review and complimentary comments. I'm very grateful. :}

I'm more on the side of stanza two but sometimes get tired of reading cutsie stuff. Great two stanza poem - good luck in the contest.

    Thanks, Teresa. I would have figured you for more of a stanza number two gal, or at least leaning towards it. See what I get for thinkin'?

    As for luck, it looks as if I'm gonna' need all of the luck that I can get, my friend. Got any layin' around, LOL?

Stanza two for me, my friend! I love fairies and all things nice. I enjoyed both stanzas, they quite complimented each other in a strange way. :) I loved the illustrations, they are lovely. Good luck in the contest. :) xsx sandra

    As for luck, it sure looks like I could use a little. Got any? Heh-heh...

Love the artwork and animations my friend, they compliment this masterfully crafted piece you have delivered perfectly. The only thing is, I had some difficulty reading as this was quite dark. By the way, you know which stanza I prefer!
Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

    Thanks for the review, Steve. You had trouble seeing it...really? My eyes are horribly bad, and I can read it just fine. I wonder what's up with that?...

    I would guess you're somewhere in between. So sorry about not giving a "gray" area to consider, LOL.

    God bless you & yours as well... ;}
reply by Neonewman on 22-Jan-2015
    Your welcome Dean, my eyes are pretty bad as well LOL! But the background was black and the words were charcoal on my screen. I view everything on a 41" screen, this may be the issue as I have yet to figure out how to make things smaller when necessary. By the way, my last horror entry, "Mother". I do believe I am going to have to write a novel off this piece.
    Thank you for the blessings and as always, right back at you.

    I think you should write that novel, Steve. I know I'd read it. :}
reply by Neonewman on 22-Jan-2015
    Thank you Dean, I really feel it would be a home run. The novel I am close to finishing is pretty damn creepy and very well received. Half the time I only listen to half of what family and friends say when it comes to my book. But my mother on the other hand, well she is brutally honest. She finds this book quite intriguing and comments on the characters as if they were real LOL!
    I voted on your two stanza entry, looks like your just below the baby sister one. We need some darker folks to vote for the right piece.
    Good luck buddy.

    I think the novel would do very well, Steve. And you're right, there aren't too many here who write of darkness and h=things that go bump in the night. People don't realize how difficult it is to write in a genre that is not too well accepted, yet sill retain some modicum of success. Sure, anyone can write about cute little puppies, growing old, and flitting butterflies sprinkling fairy dust everywhere which drops from the gossamer wings...... Just take a look at the well received, promoted poems and stories on the front page of this website. But to write of dark and unspeakable torments and still getting people to read it, and be successful at it. Ah-h-h-h, therein lies the "rub", my friend. :}
reply by Neonewman on 22-Jan-2015
    Oh you are so damn motivational my friend. "The Rub" I love it. I have a friend by the name of Darynda Jones, she has written the Charley Davidson series. Her books start with the first grave on the right. She is on the New York times best seller list and doing extremely well. These books are about someone who see's dead people but has been having some hot steamy dreams about one spirit, who just may not be dead. She is helping me with my grammar as do the folks here. I am in hopes that when my first novel is complete, she will help me publish. I don't want to write about puppies and kittens and fairies and stuff. But I have, in order to keep my member dollars flowing LOL!

    I do too, Steve but very rarely. It's just not where my passions lie, and if we're not intensely passionate about what we've written, then no one else will be either.
reply by Neonewman on 22-Jan-2015
    Very well spoken Dean! I have to agree, the biggest thrill I get is from the worst of feedback. The last one was a 2 LOL! When reading his work, he only had written about his deceased cat that lived 5 years longer than normal, due to his good care. My piece scared the shit out of him and he responded defensively. But you know what? He read my work, and this makes me a happy fellow.

    Do you sell your work on amazon.com?
reply by the author on 22-Jan-2015
    No, not yet. But I have a book coming out this late summer or early fall on Samhain Press.com. It's titled, "Screams from a Darkened Room: and other tales of terror" My first ever published book, although I've been published in many magazines. I'm very excited about it. :}
