Fast-paced, great action, lots of tension, fine dialogue. The characters are quite believable and well-drawn. The plot is thick but not overwhelming.
I like that this is a mystery-crime fiction tale with elements of the supernatural. You carry this out with the reader in mind and you do that very well. The chapter has a very dramatic and poignant end.

Hi, Mike. Thanks so much for this great review! I'm not quite sure what genre this novel fits into. I started out with a mystery and then deviated into, my first love, the supernatural. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and appreciate hearing from you.

What an excellent piece of writing, Bev.
The emotion from the first part of the chapter was gripping indeed.
Yo created a great parallel handling with the scenes of your last chapter with a very good interplay between characters.
Good emotions with Jana, and so happy you spared father Brian as he is a very important part of the book and long may he reign.
My old pal, Dog, again makes his entrance.
Very good work, very good indeed.
Best wishes, Bev..it is like watching a movie, so a good book should be.
Have a good day.
Bravo,
RG

Hi, Roy. Thank you so much for this awesome review! Your support and encouragement have meant so much to me, as have your suggestions and insights. I can't thank you enough.
I love dogs, and think they are living angels in many ways, so Wasu had to play an important role for me. And Father Brian is going to be part of the sequel and an ongoing character for me, so he had to come back as well. Yet, it's Jana who seems to have taken the stage. I love her character and patterned after a Native American woman is saw some some years ago. It was a brief encounter, but I was so taken with her beauty and dignity that I have never forgotten her. She carried power with ease.
Just the Epilogue left, and into the editing mode. I'm keeping all the reviews for reference, including so many of your fine insights.

Although everyone will tell her Rick's death is not her fault, Jana will feel responsible. Glad Father Brian and the girl survived. This is another well written and well crafted chapter.

You are right on target, CR. It's going to take a long time for Jana to heal. Father Brian, Jana and others will be back in the sequel which will get written after I edit this novel, hoping for publication. Thanks for all you've done to support and encourage me. :) Bev

Awesome chapter - as a reader I fell in step with Jana and travelled through her torment and aftermath grief of being unable to save her friend. A great write.

This is very good. I wish I still had a six, but I do not. Your description of the emotion Jana felt was perfect. As was the description of the action.

Sigh. What a sad chapter, a sad ending.
I always hate it when stories end, or about to end. However, you did a great job on this one - both the chapter and the book.
Thanks for sharing it. JW

Jonathon, thank you so much. I am feeling kind of sad today after posting this yesterday. But, I have a sequel planned and my characters, for the most part, will be back in action for another round of the supernatural.
Thank you so much for this generous and gracious review, my friend; and the support you've offered throughout this project.

It's been my pleasure, Bev, and I'm glad to hear that a sequel is forth coming.
BTW, talking about sequels. Do you remember my The Question series (The Question & Plutonium's Revenge)? If so, even though they have not been posted, I've already written the first few chapters in what will be the third book in the series. JW

I remember it well, Jonathon. Glad you are keeping up that fascinating series. Good for you!

Jana does her best for Rick, but he is lost in the explosion. Father Brian and Danika come through. Interesting that Father Brian believes he died but had to come back for unfinished business. Jana's actions at the end of this are great. I love the thought that "The heartbeat of the Nations is found within a woman." She certainly shows her courage by going into the cave even when Ty and Derek tell her to wait for backup. Great touch with the devil hound. He's there, but vanishes quickly. Great work. Out of sixes for this week, but I couldn't wait until Sunday to read this! judi

Thank you so much, Judi. I am thrilled that you enjoyed the chapter. I was worried that it might be anti-climactic, but seems to be well received. You have been so generous and encouraging through all this project. Hanging in there with me through this long project is worth more to me than a thousand stars. I really appreciate you, Judi!
Hugs, Bev

This is so powerful. You're doing a great job of establishing the connections between the characters, like Jana's for Rick, and Father Brian is right there visiting Tony as he's recovering. judi

This was a very emotional story. You did a great job with describing the details of each scene. I liked the info included about Indian culture compared to ours. Again, great story. 8-)

Hi, Bev.
Wow! This is fabulous! So good the way you showed what happened from Jana's point of view. I felt her pain the ache of loss and her final act, cutting her own hair in offering.
You've ended all loose ends so well, even the surprise of Father Brian's existence. This is such an awesome book!!! I can't wait to see it in bookstores.
Awesome write, my friend!! This is worth ten stars and more!
Bye
Hugs

Rosalyne, what a truly inspiring and lovely review. Thank you so much for all you've done to help keep me motivated to persist and, hopefully, improve as a writer. I've got quite a lot of work ahead of me in the editing department, but I am going to see how far I can take this project. You are so appreciated, my friend.

Hi,Bev.
You are such an amazing lady, so humble about your talents! Your book is excellent with so many layers and a continuous build of tension and excitement. What stands out so beautifully for me is the way you bring in two cultures, Western and Sioux. You show this so well, both culturally, traditions practiced and use of language.
I can't wait to see your book on store shelves!
Bye, my friend!
Hugs

Aw, you're so good to me, Rosalyne. I really am looking forward to giving you a real life hug in the not-too-distant future!
You're the best, buddy!
