This is a truly beautiful piece of writing which contains so many truths. You covered not just the erotic aspect of love, but the love of a mother, for a child, for a baby, for a marriage that lasts a lifetime. I don't know what is expected of us in the contest. 'Valentines Poetry' contest. I thought it is meant to be a poem like the ones within a valentine card. I remember getting them years ago with no signature - Just Guess Who!! But we are not given any clues so anything goes and your offering is very lovely. Good Luck in he contest. Regards Dorothy

Thanks Dorothy, I normally rhyme my poetry, but decided to do free verse. Glad you enjoyed the read and appreciate your comments and good wishes. :-) Carolyn

Beautiful free verse that gives glory to God and opens our eyes to all love in all forms... I love the last stanza , " the heart of love that dares to give credence to God that is love...." Well done

Comment from Sagnik Das
Would I were vouchsafed a thousand stars at dispense, I would bequeath them to you. This is UNPARALLELED! The way you devised the preceding half (employing Pantheistic overtones) is SUBLIME, & made me feel as though I were reading a work by Whitman [arguably, the foremost exemplar of the free-verse], or even, such neo-classicists as Ralph Waldo Emerson).
The subtle depiction of mortal virtues, transcending the realm of Earthly love to manifest what I call 'Platonic Divinity', has been fervently executed. The words possess a sense of Epicurean profundity:
"The heart of love is never ending but goes on and on
From one generation to another, world without end
A growing valentine, an occupation of the soul that no one can explain" -- REMARKABLE! What can one term this save sheer beauty of expression?...
I would rather allow my paltry rating speak -- This is discernable, Carolyn -- & you are sure to win this (should that headstrong committee intercept its impudence)...

My ever growing gratitude to you Sagnik, you bring me a pound of encouragement for every ounce of words I write. As far as the committee goes... LOL... Whoever wins, it won't take one spark from the glow of what you have bestowed upon me. You make me a better writer, and perhaps even, a better person. Thanks so much, Love to all of you, Carolyn

A privilege as ever, dear friend. :)

Dear Carolyn - I love the fact that you crafted this one outside of the norm for Valentines which is truly just a marketing ploy. I would much rather have the spirit of valentines throughout the year. Why just one day.
Anyway I enjoyed this one and thought you penned it well.
Thanks for sharing it and good luck in the contest. My last six to you dear One.
Love
Maureen

Oh Maureen, since I admire you so much (and love you more) this beautiful six, as I say a 'golden cross' means the world to me. I, like you, feel each holiday is rather exploited, but then, on the other hand, it is a great day to get CHOCOLATEEEEEEEEEEE...
Love you, Carolyn

It is great in the morning to read something that centres on love and God.
Well done.
I have been busy with getting my poems ready these days and I have not written nor posted anything except a short one shed no tears for me.
Did you read it.?
Hopefully I be back soon.
I shall be reviewing instead now on till I begin to write again.
Thank you. Please bear with me.

Carolyn,
What's the old saying? Love makes the world go round...
It certainly does and you have pinpointed so many timely aspects causing that to happen. I loved this phrasing...
"It's watching your child assist an elderly person cross the street, and knowing in your heart that he or she is made up of more than pink hair, tattoos and a strange fashion statement"
I enjoy reading your poems. They are always filled with love and emotion!
Nicely done... John

Yes we all have the ability to love within us. Even hitler loved eva brain and his dog. Mother Theresa said that we all have the ability for good and evil within us. When asked if even she had the ability for evil she simply replied especially me.

Hi,
I like that you have kept it simple and straightword in the free style. You have nicely shared your views here. Love is something we all want but we need to have a pure heart for it too. Good of luck!
