Thank you Gungalo, I appreciate it. So sorry for the lengthy response time, we just moved into a new home and I had to go with a totally different internet provider. I was down for a few days... I'm back up again now. It's kinda' like sex, you know? Up again, down again---Well, I won't go there... or, have I already? Oh hell, I think I'd better go take my meds...

Dean, I was able to grab a few data bites to review this one. Definitely a look into the childish mindset tortured with evil. Unfortunately for some who are mentally ill adults, this is not far from fantasy for them never having a quiet mind is hell.

Dean, I was able to grab a few data bites to review this one. Definitely a look into the childish mindset tortured with evil. Unfortunately for some who are mentally ill adults, this is not far from fantasy for them never having a quiet mind is hell.

Reminded me of the imaginary (or was it??) Zeego that my kids used to talk about when they were little, their eyes wide, as they pointed to the closet from their cribs. I was beginning to wonder ...!
You've really got into the child's head, Dean. This was very well done - had a real Victorian feel to it. A horrific R.L. Stevenson, perhaps. :)

You manage to create a wonderful sense of tension in your poem between the rational self trying to keep the clowns at bay and the clowns urging him to let them out 'to play'. What devastation and destruction can ensue when the clowns win that battle. There is something particularly chilling about the laughing maniac.

Yes - I suppose we all have clowns in our head, some more malicious than others. Thanks for your brief summary of the history of the clown. You manage to create a wonderful sense of tension in your poem between the rational self trying to keep the clowns at bay and the clowns urging him to let them out 'to play'. Fabulous as usual. You are quite a mega talent. presentation is perfect. Your meter and rhyme is outstanding in this. Your words certainly contain the horror of one afraid of clowns. When I first heard that so many fear these painted entertainers, I thought it curious.I wondered what could possibly scare them? As a four year old I was taken to the circus and when I received a new puppy shortly after named him after the clown I remembered in the circus. My name was "Bimbo", I can't be sure that was the clown's correct name, but that is what it came across to me. LOL
As I grew older I did come to understand how they can be scary. After all Punch and Judy were pretty violent. Loved your informative notes. I usually try to keep my notes to a minimum, yet when I think the readers might be interested I add a little information or history. You gave us heaps of info and an interesting subject to peruse further.
I love the images you create, enough to scare the pants off me. Graphic and disturbing, poor little boy, what nightmares. I love the last line ... if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Hahaha! That image is awesome.

I'm thinking this is what a demon child would say... We talk about having demons to deal with. He has clowns. Hell, if you can't beat them, join them. Love the ending. Excellent meter and rhyme and terrifying images. I'll look under my bed tonight!

Ahh, more friggin klowns. The only klown that did anything remotely interesting was Pogo. (Uncle Gacy's other half). If you got klowns in your head D - Nuts it is time for a drill bit lobotomy. Fantastic poem.
