Great poem and photo too! This photo reminds me of the Asheville, North Carolina flood that came after Hurricane Helene last year. Poor people suffered a lot during the flood. And this is always the case with a raging river. Nice poem and wording. Keep up the good work!

Hi Harry. Yes, poor people flood more easily than the well off

That is because the land where the river is going to flood is cheap enough that poor people can afford it

I live in the Sacramento River Delta. Delta means that’s where the excess water is going to go if it floods so I’m always in a constant state possibly being flooded.

    Thanks for the great review

Oh yes Pam. That makes so much sense. I never really thought of it like that though, thanks!

Wow! You do write powerful poems, Pam, and, for nature's sake, I'm glad you're on her side! You do an excellent job of describing the damage man has done to nature, and using strong words like "theft" add to the impact of your poem.

I just have one grammatical suggestion, and that's to have your second line read, "Surrounding trees still have no clue," with "surrounding" becoming an adjective in this instance.

    Hi Michele

Thank you for your suggestion, but I prefer it the way it is. I want the trees to be surrounded by the flood not to be surrounding the flood.

Thank you for your usual thorough and encouraging review

After my next two posts, I’ll be leaving fan story for a while. I just don’t have the heart to review a lot of stuff in order to get cent pumps and I don’t want to spend money on them.

    Happy writing while I’m gone

No problem. I always say the work is yours so, ultimately, you have to be happy with it.

I'm sorry you'll be leaving FanStory for a while, but I do understand how time-consuming it can be to review just for the sake of promoting your work, which means you immediately spend what you've just earned, and have to earn more for next time. And I know how frustrating it is when you review and review and the Member Cent Pumps just don't come.

I'll definitely miss you, but you have to do what's best for you. If and when you do return, I'll welcome you with open arms.

"...And all that mud from loosened dirt
will crush all things beneath its skirt."

Of this whole poignant poem, these lines resonate with me the most. I've watched too many news stories of people killed by mud slides. The most recent was just weeks ago in British Columbia.

Well written!

Yes. Mudslides occur when there is nothing to stop them like big trees.

    Thanks for the wonderful review

Between the wildfires and these floods, this planet is slowly but surely becoming more and more unstable and endangered. Man's greed and and neglect are the cause. What does it take to wake people up?

Was thinking of the Colorado and its swift currents. I also was thinking about fossils from the deep found at the top of mountains, a reminder of Noah and the grate flood.

Pamusart, this is an excellent take on what man has done and still doing to
Mother Nature in his quest to improve is surroundings at Her expense... The animals, plants and insects needed for a healthy ecosystem are being
destroyed daily, causing extreme shifts in weathering, temperatures and
unrelenting human/animal suffering. Thanks for your poetic reminder. teafor2

It sounds like you are experiencing some flooding Pam and we suffer from this problem on occasions when we have too much rain. Your powerful poem with the water thumping along is quite is quite destructive. I enjoyed your rhymes and flow, love Dolly x

I absolutely love your poem. But then, I'm always a huge fan of mother nature taking back what's hers. Is that wrong? It feels a little wrong...

I feel like in this one short poem, we were told the story of the entire 300 years, start to finish. Great job! Thank you for sharing!

It's funny I've heard a lot of people accuse others of destroying the environment, but when I discovered that as small as my contribution to that lack, I stopped being critical, our friend's said she was now an environmentalist I said to her, "Susan, how did you get here?" She replied, "Plane" (the biggest polluters of all) she suddenly lost interest in the conversation. Good write, Bless you, Roy,

I’m sure everybody leaves the footprint. It’s almost impossible not to. I’ve been putting my recyclable paper things like envelopes and mail in my recycle trashcan and now I found out that it just gets mixed with all the other trash and it never gets recycled here.

And I don’t have much choice because I’m an assisted living facility and they take out the trash I don’t

Also, I use gain pods which comes in a plastic bottle when I could use detergent that comes in a box. So I contribute there.

All we can do is try to do as much as we can within limits. The reason I have the pods is because I really can’t do laundry by myself by pouring laundry soap from a box.

I think they should make those bottles recyclable like other bottles are

I save all my empty water bottles for the caregivers here because they take them to the recycle plant and collect however, much money they’re worth

Anyhow, Roy I’ve noticed you haven’t posted in a while so I hope all is well with you

I’ll be taking another hiatus from fan story after two more post. I just can’t bring myself to do all the reviews that it would take to win the cent pumps that I would need to make more posts nor do I want to spend any more money I wish you the best.

You don't have to explain things to me dear girl, I was merely pointing out that we can make a religion out of these things, imperfection is our forte, that's the wonderful thing about grace, we can only do our best. It's just that this poor girl was justifying herself, and nobody can Pam, God understands, He dealt with sin, it's the heart He's concerned with, be blessed. Roy
