Barbara,
This is a great story about your youngest son. It is so sad that he started crying when he weighed in. Since mom's aren't allowed of the field I guess it's great your older son was there.
That must have been scary times having everyone deployed at the same time. I can only imagine what a nervous wreck you were.
Well done

Being an Army life has its challenges as I'm sure you're aware more than most. Thank you for the understanding.
-
Yes, it takes a special breed to deal with the military way of life. I think it's harder on the stay at home mom's than it is for the military person.

They each have their own problems.
-
Yes, ma'am they do.

I thought it was a cute little story that articulates the frustrations of kids in getting involved with these organized things. They don't understand all these weight requirements and rules. But perseverance is the key, and in the end, it looks like he made a good career for himself. The ups and downs along the way are part of the great adventure. estory

I think that applies to many forms of football I suspect American is a variant of rugby an ancient English game, with very big defensive players, and smaller wingers, scrum halfs, it's played internationally with the ball passed by hand until a touchdown is achieved, but played without the armour. It's not really football, soccer is, well done Barbara, blessings Roy

And a where else on earth, it's a religion here. Sport for that matter.

What a great story! I enjoy everything you write and you have plenty enough emotion in every story, but these real chapters give a look at life everyone can relate to. I coached basketball, baseball, football, and boxing for 40 years, so naturally this one really hit home for me. Wish I had a six.
Thanks for sharing.

They weigh the boys before the game? I wonder why? I have never heard of such a thing before. Is this so that each team cannot deploy heavier players to win? Thank you for sharing your son Andrew's experienced on the pitch, I bet he was rather cute in his outfit. I am glad he is still active too, love Dolly x x x

Yes, they weigh them, so the larger players won't hurt the smaller ones. Thank you for the kind review.

I suppose that is a good idea as American football can be a bit rough x x x

It can be.

Interesting post, Barb. I was a high school teacher for ten years. I was not a fan of football because of the injuries that I saw - like the one your son had. I coached cross-country and had the pleasure of coaching two state champions.

Thank you for the kind review. My oldest granddaughter ran cross country. My little six year old one says she's going to do the hurdles in track.

None of my children or grand children are very athletic. My oldest daughter is a step, her biological father ran track in the 1968 Olympics, he did not medal but did better than finish last. My/his grandson is a natural runner, but refuses to complete feeling that running is boring. He will only run to get someplace in a hurry or he will run to get away from danger. To run in competition for him, is out of the question.

I enjoy these tales of yours. Barbara.
It is always fascinating to see inside of someone's family life . It gives a great understanding of who and what that person is and stands for.
Your family sounds delightful and its easy to see you have a definite case of proud mum syndrome

Thank you for sharing this interesting story about Andrew from his peewee soccer days to his adulthood. I'm always so impressed with how you managed your family so well as an army wife. Your devotion to all your sons is very evident throughout these posts. Take care Debbie

Forget the editing. It was good enough for me. This story showed me a side of the Army and football I had never seen. Very interesting. Will there be more tales about Andrew?
