Gretchen, this is an amazing chapter. I enjoy her dialogues with herself, and I know she is right to trust her gut instincts. What a horrid dream - a cloud of black flies coming out of his mouth! Ominous (implying another death), and filled with tension. Very vivid imagery (as friendly as a rabid dog, the reptilian eyes, the peppery sarcasm (perfect!), You are right - these situations build until there is a dramatic and fearful explosion. Wonderful writing.

Those are awful kinds of dreams. She is also good at seeing the future coming down the road to hit her. Tomlin seems like the kind of person who never forgets a wrong, real or imagined. I like your imagery with the black flies and Tomlin's alligator eyes.

That was some nasty dream. I think that man will attempt to get to Miranda through Waylon. He is that type. Sic Dougie on him. His male pride might click on. :-) Karen

I think Dougie might get himself into real trouble. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

People like Mr Tomlin have a habit of getting under our skin. I often have a talk with my reflection, often to instil some confidence in myself. Another fine readable chapter Gretchen. You have a wonderful inventive way with words and these lines were my favourite:

(I swallow the peppery taste of sarcasm)
(Alligators smile in a similar fashion, flashing teeth and cold reptilian eyes).

Love Dolly x x x

Hello, I found your writing interesting but lacking information. I would have liked to have heard more about Mr. Tomlin. What makes him so creepy, and how is he making trouble for Miranda or Waylon? From the storyline, I get that Mr. Tomlin is Waylon's school teacher. How is he a threat to Waylon? How old is Waylon? Inquiry minds want to know.
