Why Do We Write

That is a good question, written in just 20 syllables, Beth. I think most writers were born to do so. Some never get the chance, and some can't start until they retired from work and raising their families. But at the end of the day, they will all write at sometime in their lives. I love to write. Good luck, my friend. Fabulous entry. :)) Sandra xxx

Thank you, Sandra. I've found there isn't really even that many people who even like to read. They would rather be entertained with a movie or podcast. I only know two other people in my acquaintances besides on FanStory who write. IF we feel compelled to write, I think we have a gift that has to be developed.

I do remember, even though I was 8 when I began writing my little paper books: I loved to tell stories. And I think I must have also enjoyed getting lost in my imagination.
I'm sure you'll get a lot of interesting stories from reviewers. I'm glad you asked.
Good luck in the contest.

Most people say they started writing quite young. I did as well, but I only wrote poems and journals and assignment stories until I retired but If something was bothering me, I wrote to the people involved and felt I could get my point across better than way that by talking.
I appreciate your review and comments.

Lovely poem of Twenty Syllables. Everyone has a life story, and each life has things, people and situations worthy of a story. Thanks for the encouragement! Best wishes for the contest.

Thank you, Wendy. I think we all have many stories in our lives and deserve some recording for the next generation. Those of us who write can put our own story into words for those that come later.

Sharing our stories here on Fanstory has become a cathartic occupation as we learn we are not alone in our grief and sorrow and happiness and joy, I enjoyed your poem for the contest Beth, love Dolly x

Thank you, Helen. I'm glad you find my poem encouraging. All of us on this site write but I don't know many who write outside of this site. So many don't even like to read. They sort of go hand in hand but my son in law likes to write and hates to read. I don't get it.

I try and yet even though I place my wick on a hill to be read by all I may have a dozen that will visit my entries which is fine yet disappointing

Thank you, Tom. You can't please everyone all of the time until you give them a lot of money. I think your writing if fun to read and provokes some thoughts in others.

Heck. I cannot even figure how to offer more than 52+ a few of those bonuses thingies to get to 67 or thereabout. I tried buying two 52's but that didn't work. Oh well.

A good writer's way of using twenty syllables. I don't think anyone is at this site out of a whim. We all have callings to write, and to try to be the best writers we can. Thanks for posting.

Your 20 syllable verse flows so well it's as if the words were always intended to fit the requirements of the prompt. Well done, Beth, and good luck! Debbie

So few syllables and so much to say! Very well done, Beth. I started writing at a very young age, not exactly knowing why but knowing I felt better when I did write. Later, I understood what a special gift I had been given and it meant so much more to me. Your words said it all!

Thank you, Carol. I appreciate your reviewing and commenting on my poem. I don't seem to have enough time and energy to write long chapters on a book every day like you do.

I am running out of steam too! It's been a whirlwind of a month and, it looks like it will be continuing. Please don't miss my post today. It's very special to me and I can't wait to share it. Have a terrific day!

Yes, I have often wondered why but I do love sharing with those who like reading my junk. Good entry, Beth. I hope you do well in the contest. I shall look for it in the booth.
