I read this story with visceral emotion! This must have been so frightening for poor Wayne but, even in this nightmare, he still had the fight to play his last card. I'm so relieved to hear he's making good progress after the crisis. So many factors conspired to save him but most of all God was on his side. Well done for braving those tears and creating a verse which is exemplary. My love and warmest of wishes to you both. Debbie xo

Hi Debbie,
Thank you so much for the six stars, and for the comments on what the poem was like as well as the message I was trying to get across. He has had several days now to tell us even more. I stand in admiration of his resourcefulness and determination to survive. All of us, stand in awe of the way God worked things out for his survival. Thank you so much for your support and prayers,
Hugs,
Rhonda

I think it was a miraculous combination of factors and I'm so relieved for you after all you've already been through. I'm actually in awe of you:)

Debbie, I'm in awe of all the support and prayers I've been getting. I know I haven't been very present here, but I can't tell you how we have felt the prayers. We were surrounded, and it showed!!!
Hugs,
Rhonda

I will pray for you and your husbands recovery. I can feel your stress in the words of your poem and I can only guess at the stress that you must be going through. God bless you both. Don

Hi Don,
I think back on the day I wrote the poem, just a few, but it seems so long ago. We have been through so much. I'll write another poem or chapter about it later. But for now, he's alive and has improved so far ahead of the curve that everyone is amazed. He's walking, talking, eating, dressing himself, making jokes, playing on his phone and watching TV. Each of these came a step at a time.
I appreciate your support,
Rhonda

Wow Rhonda. I'm amazed and pleased how you were able to write such powerful poem that really turns into a testimony of prayer and sustaining grace. So glad I caught this, and then the note about the tracker on the phone. Blessed to read this. Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him who is able to do, exceeding, abundantly, above all we ask or think..."

You know, Stan, you are so right, this does relate well with that verse. God didn't start the miracle at the moment Wayne realized he had no control over his arms and legs, but two weeks earlier when his sons talked him into the tracker. It's also helped them keep track of me in Dallas as I try to find the hospital when I leave to get things. It's great. The greatest tracker of all is the one we owe his life to!!
Thank you for the stars and for the comments, my friend,
Rhonda

Well said. Blessings between the bookends!

Sorry out of sixes. I read the other poem; think it was your daughters. This one too is a masterpiece. You farmers are the lifeblood of our country's. And you are fighters who never give up. And now you write bloody good poetry as well. Can't you leave anything for us dummies.
Hope your recovery is progressing well. Hope the nurses are spoiling you and I'm sure the Good Lord is looking after the pastures and the stock. Get well soon. And back to the important things, like more poetry.

Aww, Bob, thank you so much for the virtual six, my friend, I'll take it!! Wayne is quite a farmer. He really is. I stand in awe of him. He has a simple faith, as do his two sons. They are also very practical. They put the tracker on his phone and explained how important it was for them to be able to find him.
The nurses are spoiling him, lol, as is the physical therapist. As quickly as he's healed, they are standing in awe.
Thank you again,
Rhonda

HI Mike,
It's funny but the first thing I thought about when I climbed into the ambulance to see Wayne before they transferred him to a helicopter to life-flight him into Dallas, was about that story I had just written about the role being reversed. Of course, I wasn't life-lighted to a hospital, but I now know how he felt that day when it was the other way around.
Thanks for the encouragement and the beautiful 6 stars, my friend,
Rhonda

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. He is the great healer who can perform miracles.
I relate to your poem and notes, as I smoked for thirty years. Prayer helped me stop. I also know what it is like to sleep on a recliner next to a hospitalized husband.
I will keep both you and Wayne in prayer, beginning with..."Lord, you are the Master, because you took something that could have been a disaster and marked it with your signature ease."
I will keep Wayne in my prayers for continued healing, strength, clarity and peace, and that he loses the taste for nicotine.

Thank you for the beautiful prayer, Lorraine. It is so touching! I appreciate you sharing about your own addiction to nicotine and how hard it is to break. Thank you for letting us know how you were able to overcome it with God's help.
Hugs,
Rhonda

I love that final paragraph, God doesn't live in the vacuum of time, but in the eternal realm where He sees the end from the beginning. Those trackers are incredible, well I'm glad to hear of Wayne's progress, he sounds like a fighter, so good in you both. My dad had a severe stroke, which rendered him a quadriplegic. I know the anguish it can bring Rhonda, May the Lord pour out Hid compassion and healing, bless you Roy

Thank you so much, Roy. If it hadn't been for the speed at which Wayne got to the surgery, the same may have been true of Wayne. My father died from his, as did my mother. I didn't want Wayne to have to live disabled, but I wasn't ready to let him go, either. Modern technology can be annoying but I can't argue with it paying off with this Ap.
Thank you for pointing out the spiritual aspect of this experience as well.
Take care,
Rhonda

Hello Rhonda,
Amazing! and more! Wayne's story, the timing, the speed, Plus a lot of help from above. I wish all could read this, it would save lives, and disabilities.
Writing can be cathartic, it lets out the deepest emotions, which is also important.
But most of all, great results from the quick action from all.
You'll both be in our thoughts and prayers.
Best wishes to all.
Robert

Robert, thank you so much for the lovely six star support of the poem and Wayne. It was my hope with this poem to raise awareness of such Apps as the life360, the importance of being aware of your own body and the power of prayer. I know that this whole scenario could have turned on a dime.
I know Wayne still has a lot of hurdles ahead of us, and I might need to retire again from teaching to be closer to him, but I am so thankful to have him right here beside me in a hospital bed, breathing, talking and walking. Part of it was his own stubborn fight, but the rest is God and life360.
Take care,
Rhonda

Thank you so much for this beautiful explanatory poem and the update on Wayne's stroke, surgery, and recuperation. It must have been such a scary situation and hard for you to sit down and write about it. Thank goodness for the rapid response. I am so glad to hear he's on the road to recovery and send my prayers and healthy vibes for continued improvement. Bless you all!

Thank you so much for your comments, Joan. I can assure you I fought with making it sound smooth, and hoped you poets would be forgiving of all the mistakes. Sometimes there's just no other way to express deep emotions than in poetry. All the hard work all of you do to train us is most welcome!!
Hugs,
Rhonda

You're most welcome, Rhonda. You are right about poetry being cathartic. I started writing poetry in high school to express my feelings about being picked on.
