Carol. I am reading along, immersed in the story, emotions running high and you add a helpless puppy to the mix? You really know how to tug at the heart! Great story especially coming on the devastation made by hurricane Milton. Thanks for sharing

This is a beautifully written story, especially at this time when so many on the East Coast have lost their homes and all of their positions but the one thing that many of them did not lose was their lives and the lives of their loved ones. There were some that lost the lives of their loved ones and that is a tragedy. Patricia

That was lovely, Carol. It's true what they say, God does things for a reason. This little puppy was saved when it probably thought it would be lost to the sea. The weather is changing everywhere. This was a really good, heartwarming story, my friend. I should have two more 6s in my account, but they are gone. I asked Tom to check and give them back to me. He said, Yes, I'd only used four, but he couldn't do anything about it! Gutted! Anyway, a virtual six, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

they just disappeared and he can't do anything about it? What kind of site manager says that? Hold my tongue!!! I am happy to take the virtual six...your thoughts mean more than any stars to me. I just needed to write a feel good story and a saved puppy was the best. Now I shall have to get back to business... proofing Spirited Justice (do you think it needs a different name) and writing a second chapter for The Empty Chair. My plate is overflowing...but it feels great!

No! That title covers it perfectly. I'm wondering what to call my new book. I've called it From Small Beginings for now. The stone is small!! Lol. It will probably change later. As for all the work you do, I don't know how you manage it. There is no way in hell that I could write a novel in a month! So that is not a problem. I like to read yours. Yes, this was a really lovely, heartwarming story after your first chapter of The Empty Chair! xxxx

Thanks! I need to shake off the "creeps" once in a while. I've also played around with the first chapter of the third in the series. I am toying between Shattered and Lies and Deception.... Lots of lives will be torn apart because of lots of lies, deceptions, and untold stories.

This was a sweet story. I can imagine with some of these storms recently so may have felt very much like Katie. She had a caring daddy who was being brave and comforting her. There is nothing like a puppy to make things all better.

I agree! Rescuing the sweet puppy was the basis of the story...Have to have something good come out of the dangerous situation, right? thanks for reading and the review, Beth.

The imagery and movement (action) in this story are impressive. Your words place the reader in that strong of gust of wind. I was there with Katie, Earl and the Dad, rooting for them.

Also, I like the poetic lines in this story, particularly, the opening paragraph.

I agree with you, things do not always happen as we wish.

Thank you for sharing.

Hope in the darkest moments, and the idea that sometimes pain brings about the greatest miracles, is a difficult yet profound concept. The Divine watches over us, caring for us and loving us even as we face our fears, guiding us toward the light. Beautifully written--a truly lovely story!

Hi there,

I enjoyed the opening paragraph. It set the tone, a nice sense of setting and elements of backstory. that's a lot conveyed very easily.

Sobbing uncontrollably, Kate tried to speak -I think Kate should be Katie here.

Earl grabbed the flag and waved it as he yelled - Maybe mention the flag earlier, having it streaming in the wind or something. As it is it comes sort of out of nowhere - Just a thought.

All the best
G
