Comment from Chip Whitley
This poem beautifully captures the introspective journey amidst nature's transition, using vivid imagery of autumn to mirror the poet's internal landscape of contemplation and peace-seeking. The serene depiction of the natural world serves as a soothing backdrop to the speaker's quest for clarity, making it a reflective and calming read.

Hello, Diane! You've inspired me to write with the same sweetness and encouraging views of the planet teeming with fish and fowl and all the animals that live near you in northern Michigan. I love the rhymes and the way you play with the words just for fun instead of serious gaming.
Thanks for sharing your view of life. Let's hope our lives get better every day as we walk through the forest searching for truth and so much more.

Hello, Jesse!
So glad you stopped by!
Hoping you do write an offering of nature's beauty that surrounds you = a tad bit different from that of northern Michigan, but glorious, nonetheless.
Hoping you are doing well!
Always good to hear from you
Thank you!
Much appreciation,

I needed a stroll in nature today and your words provided that walk into nature with all her beauty and majestic creatures. Love the verses about the chipmunk, fox and bluejay. Some of my favorite creatures to observe here on Cape Cod. Excellent rhyming of words that is smooth and enhances your vivid scene of the natural world.

Rarely has a poem deemed to be number 1, so richly deserved that ranking. Although some of the photos did not appear, there was really no need, as your excellent use of verbiage was done so well, I could clearly see what was being described. I live in Detroit for many years before moving to California. To my shame, it never occurred to me to take advantage of the natural wonders that the state of Michigan provides. I think that perhaps it did not occur to me to be interested in the natural wonders provided for free. The shame is mine alone.

Hello, Nolan!
Goodness!
I am deeply honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
I am saddened, however, to learn that some of my images did not appear for you. I haven't heard that mention from any other reviewer as of yet. Must be gremlins! :)
Mother Nature has truly put on a grand show this autumn = such needed grace and beauty in a world that has seemingly "gone off the rails" in a number of areas!
Thank you again, Nolan!
I am so very pleased that my offering resonated so deeply with you.
Much appreciation,

Communing with nature is the perfect antidote for most things that ail us, I've found. Your Michigan woodlands sound absolutely delightful, Diane. I have red foxes that visit me frequently at work, along with wild goats, emus and kangaroos. They always bring a smile to my face, as do your lovely native flora and fauna to yours.
Beautifully written, as usual. Well done.

Hello, Craig!
Goodness!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
So very pleased my offering resonated with you.
Just came inside from a day spent "putting the gardens to bed" for the winter.
My husband and I attempted to rake, but the wind would have none of it! What a job that is!
But I cannot complain; Mother Nature has certainly put on a show for us this year = just glorious and perfect opportunities to walk along "pathways wide."
Thank you again!
Much appreciation!

Hello Diane,
I so thoroughly enjoyed this poem, though there was a hint of sadness in it. I find that many of us who are walking on the backside of our lives spend more time reflecting on the important things and the loss that we're all bound to suffer as we lose friends near and far. You're so fortunate to live in such a lovely area, surrounded by such beauty and the wildlife that calls it home. Thanks so much for sharing this gal. Well done my friend.
Have a blessed evening.

I am thrilled that my offering resonated with you.
Thank you for your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
Yes, I agree that there is a "hint of sadness in it." I always feel a bit melancholy this time of year, but northern Michigan has just been glorious. Spent most of the day "putting the gardens to bed." What a job, but I love doing that as well!
Thank you again, Tom!

Hi Diane,
I understand the melancholy feelings. I feel the same way. We did all the garden stuff awhile ago, since winter hits here so much earlier as a general rule. We've had one snow already, though it didn't stick, and the moose are starting to wander through the yard and are eating the willow branches and some ground cover in a wild section of our yard. Winter is on the way, I just hope it's not too severe.
Blessings,
Tom

Your poem is sublime...
Kissed by Emily's muse, I think! You so deftly describe the wondrous nature surrounding you!
"May nature's pathways never cease
To fill my soul with sweet release..."
Is a line Ms. Dickinson is surely smiling down upon!
Your photos are a perfect addition as well!
So nice to read this and be inspired to take a walk tomorrow morning!

Hello, Karenina!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and complimentary review!
Such a glorious autumn we have experienced this year!
And I smiled when you referenced Ms. Dickinson. Years ago, when we first met, I knew that we were kindred spirits in so many ways... beginning with our love and appreciation for "Miss Emily" and her works.
I am pleased you enjoyed the photos; Nomi shared that a few didn't come through for him. That saddened me = FanStory gremlins, methinks!
My husband and I spent most of the day outside "putting the gardens to bed." What a job! Leaves were dancing everywhere! Cold weather is to settle in beginning tomorrow, but we surely have enjoyed the glorious colors and warm temperatures that have been ours this season.
Thank you again, Karenina!
Much appreciation,

I've always known we were kindred spirits when it came to Emily. I think of you often when I go to Amherst to visit her grave. In fact, I'll be heading there this weekend, as it's so beautiful in Autumn and our "CHILLY" weather isn't expected until next week.
I've been tracking the success of the Christmas Anthology in which your stories shimmer and shine off the page!
Many family members are receiving the book as gifts for Christmas.
I wish you MUCH success with that...and (what's this I hear?) Perhaps another book, about baseball...set in Fenway Park?...
I hope so! I told one of your co-authors I want to be on the preorder list!
Smile and Have a WONDERFUL AUTUMN!
Hugs,
Karenina

Much appreciation, Karenina!
Still so very honored and humbled to be a part of that incredible entourage of creativity!
That darn Lee certainly loves his baseball! (I bet he won't let me scoot in my tribute to "MY" Detroit Tigers, but I'll see what I can do!)
I do hope you have a marvelous time with "Miss Emily" and Amherst! Such a gorgeous time of the year to visit.
Onward!

How about (with your permission) I make a copy of THIS poem and leave it with her? Most who visit bring a poem...I'd be honored to bring yours!
And I don't know much about baseball...but I know the Red Sox play the Tigers, so there's your bargaining chip to Lee! (smile)
I've left reviews everywhere I can...if I've missed anywhere, please let me know!
Let me know if your poem can come to Amherst with me!
Hugs,
Karenina

Oh my goodness!
Of course you can share my poem with Miss Emily! To Amherst and beyond! :)
Smiles all around!
-
Done deal! You will be with me in spirit and in poetry on my journey...
(Big smile!)
