This is was nicely written. I do wonder if police still (if they ever) tell people not to leave town, especially in the era of bodycams, civil rights, and lawsuits. It's not like that is a legal order they can give. Just saying...

Good work.

Thank you so much. I asked a friend on our town police force. He said we can make gentle requests. Lol. They probably phrase it diffently. Gretchen

I'm now out of sixes (I think I used four of them this week on you!) [Proudly, happily, let me just add.. ] or this one would have gotten a six, too.

You continue to build onto the story, but this chapter is a much-needed calmer touch. There's still an undertow and foreboding aftertaste, but it was a much-appreciated easier-on-the-tension offering.

Again, you are doing MASTERFUL work. I absolutely LOVE this book!!!

Whew! If everyone is a suspect, I'm guessing Miranda is off the hook. So glad it was Mitch who did the questioning and that he was compassionate. Interesting that Aaron is praying over Preston's body. Aaron was the high priest in the Torah...
Suggestions:
Trying to catch disintary?" (dysentery)
"When I escorted him out of the store?" (period not question mark)
You help a pair of scissors to his (held)
