Hi Diane,
There is GREAT truth in what you speak here; traumatic experiences tend to predispose brain physiology to "more of the same." :-/
BUT - one CAN transcend this perspective and actually form NEW neural pathways! :))
Great write - lovely presentation - no edits needed here! :)
Thanks for sharing!

I love your voice and wisdom and the ferocity and courage with which you face the day. Happy new year to you to. So glad to see such wonderful writing.

Such a wonderful New Year message. Don't live in the past and dwell on your mistakes; pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go out there and do it differently.
Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.
Well written verse with an uplifting message.

Only a fool would stay
Imprisoned by the past
Only a fool would fear
What this day brings
Only a fool would miss
This opportunity to renew
Such good advice. I hope a lot of people read it.

B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Once again, you poets amaze me. You say so much in so few words. This was meaningful, beautiful and well written. This does really say it all--another chance. Thanks for sharing.

Happy New Year, Mrs KT!
This is the first of your poems I've read this year, and it's perfect - not only in form but in timing of the content, for me; it's exactly what I needed to hear in a New Year that has gone rather "blah". This is a gentle reminder to all, and so well put. I particularly like the development of Words, Paths and Hopes, like a shifting refrain, and, as ever, your lucid, laconic free verse, which says so much so simply.
Bravo!

Happy New Year Dear Friend! How pleased I am to hear from you and to know that you truly enjoyed my offering. Thank you so much for the marvelous review! Every day is a new beginning....yes? I sometimes forget...I was struck by your writing that my writig "says so much so simply." If you only knew how hard I have tried to achieve that element!!!!! Ah...maybe someday over tea and scones we will be able to share. Best Wish in 2008; I do believe it is going to be a year filled will amazing moments of laughter and love...diane

My pleasure, Diane!
I can well imagine the work that went into refining this piece - your work is always so beautifully clear, one could almost say pared-down, but that doesn't describe its elegance.
Tea and scones, yum... though you don't want to see me with jam and cream, too horrid a sight my dear, too horrid!

I'm sitting here after a draining day, long telephone conversations with people who are uncooperative and I see diane has posted something called "Renewal". I open it, hoping for humor or perhaps a modicum of inspiration and find out that I'm a fool! what a surprise that was!
Thanks, I needed that!

A lovely poem. The things I like about it is that the lines are set up differently, and that the final lines I can relate to. I pray on bended knee that I am not a fool, as well. Nice poem.
