Wow. This chapter cetainly packs a punch. Not overly sappy, but tender and real. I just love it. I don't have anything negative to say once again!

This is the one I knew I had to get right. Any other part I could make mistakes, bu thtis one ? nope. I"m glad it wasn't too preachy or sappy. :)
    Thanks Margaret.

Though I don't have the belief that you do or that Abby talks about with Jack, I think you've handled their conversation well, and that Abby has led Jack to the turning point of his faith. Well written Deb and an enjoyable read,
cheers,
valda

Forgive yourself and start believing in God, I like the message of this chapter.'
"God didn't kill Pam. I really believe that He's mourning for your loss of her, but He's not mourning for her. He has such a more complete picture of life than we do, Jack. For God, Pam didn't die. And He doesn't step in every time we need help. If He did where would faith come into the picture? He'd just be a giant Santa, checking the list, seeing what everyone wanted and mindlessly doling it out -- a cosmic vending machine, not God."Thank you for sharing and good luck with your next chapter.

Hello, dear Iza. Thank you so much for the exceptional rating. I'm glad that this chapter touched a chord with you. In the most real terms, the truest reason I wrote the book, it's the most important. There's still more to come, of course, with two bad guys still out there, but Jack had to have this and, I'm hoping, so do some of the people who read this book. :)
    Again, my most sincere gratitude.
    Blessings,

Okay, Deb, the setting, dialogue, description, and characters are perfect, but I did find some apostrophes hanging over some non-dialogue. I will suggest for the backstory section, right before 'witness' write an 'a'.

I cannot wait for the next chapter or when it's finally published!!

You will definitely get a copy when it's published. :)
Don't know what's up iwht the apostrophes. I need to get my sis or daughter to go through wth a fine-tooth comb and find them for me. I appreciate you pointing that out! Oh, and by the way, we're not done yet. There are still a couple of brothers left, remember? bwahahaha?
    Have great Sunday and worship!

Gosh, that was excellent! You should have been a Minister. I hope now Jack will get back to talking to God, let Him know he fears, ask for help. He has to open up if he wants relief from all this pain. It won't go away, but it will lighten his load and allow him to cope better just knowing God is there. Well done!! :)) Sandra xx

I a Children's Minister at our little church. I don't get to lay it on quite so hard with our nuggets, but I hope to teach them so they never get in the situation Jack is in with God or, if they do, so that those Bible verses perster them until they return. :)
Wanna see me being goofy with the kids? Right now, we have no children's program in the church building because of our friend, COVID. So we do a weekly video for them. Here's the link, if you're so inclined. I'm the puppet gal on the left.

And you certainly do NOT have to go watch that! lol.
I appreciate your constant encouragement, Sandra. It means the world, quite literally for Jack and Cody. I almost gave this one up, but your enthusiasm and kind comments, your being there for each chapter, has kept it going. Thank you.
    Be blessed this beautiful Sunday!

Hi I tried to get into your link, but it kept coming back as an error. I have that sometimes when someone in another country sends me them. But I remember doing something to bring them on. I'll have another go tomorrow, my eyes are closing. Lol. I knew you had to be something in the church. A children's Minister. That must give you so much satisfaction. :) xx

I'll see if I can figure out how to share that link more effectively (right after I ask my son how to do it!) I love it. It's a surprise to me because I was raised by a music evangelist and always assumed God would led me into music ministry. But here I am, knee deep in kids until COVID came around. Now we do videos. But that's okay. We will do what we can until this passes. I do enjoy being the goofy one of the group, though. :)

Poor Jack, it's almost like God is ganging up on him, but they are all right on with their arguments, and of course they echo that wonderful knowledge that the author possess. So it's a crash course in the knowledge, beautifully written Deb, enjoyable, well done, blessings Roy

Poor Jack, nothin'! lol. I, myself, am a 2x4 learner. Jack needed a smack in the head to get Truth back through his thick skull! lol. God's done the same for me on occasion.
Thank you for reading and reviewing, Roy. I appreciate you!

Whoa! That doctor Abby must be some kind of angel or the Lord is certainly using her for a mouthpiece! Bravo with this spiritual explanation to help people understand about the problem of suffering in this world!!
Some punctuation issues:
doling it out"a cosmic vending (comma instead of a double quote here)

"Are you asking me if it's all just a cosmic coincidence?" Jack (I wasn't sure who was talking here - Abby or Jack?

right there"people who were (comma instead of quotes?

him"she was encouraging his faith (stray quotes?)

Thank you, Helen. :) I can count on you whenever I miss something!
And I meant to change one of those 'cosmics'.. A little too many in a short span. I'll go take care of both of those now.
Many thanks! As always, you're awesome to read and review for me. :)

This is a great piece and I would love the read the complete story. My favorite part is, "And He doesn't step in every time we need help. If He did where would faith come into the picture?" because it's so true. Faith is hard to explain to people but this sentence in your story gave me a future reference. I loved it.

Hi Brandi! I'm so glad you've joined us. :)
Faith is a tough thing to understand, isn't it. And yet, people act in faith every day. They sit in a chair, fully expecting it to hold them up. They don't examine the chair for flaws, they just sit. They don't wonder what they have to do so that the chair will allow them to sit, they just do. That's a form of faith. And yet, talk God and it gets all wonky. lol. 'What do we have to do to earn it?' Nothing. 'Explain God to me.' Can't. But, basically, trusting God is like trusting a chair. Okay, it's a little more than that! lol.
I'm thrilled that you found some of this useful. I hope you will get caught up but please wait. I'm going to try to put member cents on the entire book today and tomorrow, if kids, church and work will allow that much reading time. I'd like you to get some cents for your time and trouble. :)
Please don't feel the need to review, although you can if you find something you'd like to comment on.
I am excited to meet you and will zoom over and read a few of your pieces, as well. :)
    Blessings,
    Deb

Very well written and thought out as usual. This story gets better and better with each posting. This surely will be a best seller when finished. Well done!

What an encouragement you are, each time! Not sure about a best seller. :) I pray that it will thaw the heart of someone who has been wounded by life. There are many of us.
